• The problem is that people see only two kinds of players: you either can knock out the raid in an hour, or are a TOTAL NOOB. For those of us who are sort of in the middle, it's tough. I don't think I have ever completed Leviathan, but I know the mechanics and I can hold my own pretty well. I just gave up after a while, so now since I can't prove I'm a competent player, everybody immediately assumes I'm a noob and thus a waste of time.

  • Most of us have heard the 30 minute explanation that happens at each encounter 20+ times for the new players............. it now just annoys us to no end. My explanations for each encounter are now: Stand here shoot shit kill your knight come to the middle. Kill stuff don't die. Kill stuff grab 2 blights hide in the middle. Don't leave this plate.. kill shit... when a knight comes to your plate kill it. Shoot rockets when we shoot rockets.

    • Buddy, you are in a Clan, does your clan mates not help you out with this? I agree there are a lot of Elitism going around pertaining to the Raids etc. I looked at your History and its understandable you have not done any Raid what so ever so this might be a flag to a lot of people as there are triumphs connected to raids now, and people are picky. unfortunately D2 has raids that are Mechanic Heavy, and some aren't really that Much Fun. to get you use to the Raids, and the way they work, and the kind of Communication Skills you require, you will need some people to help you through it. i am planning on Organizing a Raid Run for Noobs once a week, with our Clans lead Raid team. idea is to assist one player from the Forums who has not Done a Raid before. Generally we will be focusing on Doing Eater of World & Leviathan on Normal Mode, then Prestige once people are comfortable with it. if you are keen, we will be building a queue System on another Forum Topic. drop me a Message.

      • That's the way the community is, unfortunately. Your best option is to already have a good group of friends/a clan who are willing to help. But asking randoms? The way they see it is: If you didn't learn how to complete the raid on week one, then they're not helping you, because they see that you cannot help them. In a sense, it's just selfishness because they want their loot as quickly as possible. But they don't want to take the time to wait a bit longer to help someone new first. I hope someone lends you a helping hand eventually.

      • I don't like it because I don't want to spend time wiping on boss mechanics if I don't have to. The raid takes like 2 hours as it is. I don't want to spend 4 hours on it.

No one has to help anybody. Most of the time players that complain about this issue (like you are) are all the same. They have bad movement, bad aim, and absolutely no knowledge of what's going on. A real treat to have in a fireteam (sarcasm). Look, there's an easy fix. Make your own fireteams. That way you can control what players are allowed in. I'm sure you're a reasonable person that can understand that expecting veteran players to carry you through raids is wrong. Having 4 people wait while one explains things to you shows you hold no regard for anyones' time. It's disrespectful (unless fireteam members agreed that they were fine with it). Stop being a baby. Be like the rest of us, and research what your doing, prepare (get proper gear/power), then make a fireteam. Your greatest ally is a friend with experience. Talk to them. Learn from them. Last thing, practice the damn game, so you can actually kill more than 3 enemies in 5m. For the love of God please practice your sprint/jump skills. Nobody likes that guy who can't jump a 5ft gap without dying 30 times.
I'm sure plenty of you will let me know how much of an ass I am. Feel free.
• I feel like such a scrub for not doing the raid yet after Forsaken’s been out for two months lol. I just don’t have a team to do it with and I really don’t want to deal with toxic douchebags. I get it’s frustrating to do the raid with people that haven’t done it yet, but people just gotta have patience.

My first Last wish raid was 3 1/2 hours with two new people (including me) My next LW raid there were 4 newbies... the raid took 6 hours. My third raid was with 4 newbies.. the raid took 5 hours. My fourth raid was with all people who had clears... it took a little over an hour. It's not that no one wants to help, I was in a fireteam with people that had a clear before on my first clear, and then I have payed it forward and helped others get their first clear. Sherpas are out there. However, I think it's understandable that not everyone has 4-6 hours to drop every time they want to raid. Sorry but maybe if no one will let you join it's time to put in the hours with other newbies like yourself. I think the world's first team to complete The Last wish took 14 hours. Put in the effort and stop relying on others.

because the only thing less fun that D2 raids is teaching someone how to run D2 raids. The only exception was maybe eater of worlds that one was pretty easy to teach people. Half of the time in my last wish runs were spent yelling over other people yelling and trying to explain concepts to my team. I refuse to explain shuro chi again. I refuse to explain vault again. I'm just tired of it. My brain can't take it. I have done these encounters multiple times but only have 1 full raid completion because most people leave or I get tired and leave before Riven. Last wish is honestly a good raid a GREAT raid even, but doing it with randoms, especially randoms that need the encounter explained to them, is draining and not fun at all. Also the only loot worth chasing in this raid is thousand voices or fatebringer so once people get them they aren't coming back to raid.

        • Mostly because they always come in blind and want everyone to explain every detail. Versus just going on the damn internet and watching and learning BEFORE YOU ENTER!

Do not say no one, that is not true. My crew almost always has one new player each time we attempt the raid. That said I personally am getting tired of taking new people in and the reason for it is the continual increase in complexity of the raid. In early D1 you could take new people in the raid give them an easier task and let them learn slowly what is going on while the rest of the team succeeds in advancing through the raid. As time went on those "easy" spots started going away. My clan completed the each raid in the first 2-3 weeks, doing blind runs, then we would run the raid 3-6 times a week to make sure everyone got their gear. D2 the easy spots went away so everyone had to know every bit of the encounter. While I do feel that is a good thing in itself it does have a big negative. It causes a significant down time between encounters explaining the 8-12 steps the encounter requires. Then a couple of "lets just try it so you can see what we are talking about", followed by even more explanations. Leviathan took us a bit longer than usual to complete the first time but we did get to the point of multiple runs in a week. EoW was not a bit issue but SoS final encounter did slow us down a lot and we never did get to the point where we could get everyone through all of the time. What this has done to our clan is that only a few of us have cleared the Last Wish because we just do not have enough time to explain and complete the raid from start to finish. I like the scale of the new raid but it just takes too much time to bring others up to speed. We will do it but it is tiring.

            • Tbh, because few of us want to spend hours doing a raid after it’s been out for 2 1/2 months. Especially when a good raid team can knock the raid out in under an hour. There’s tons of YouTube videos of how to do each encounter. Look those up. Get your light level above 570-580 and you’ll be fine.

Because its MY TIME, and if I choose to create a party, and in that particular instance I do not feel like teaching someone who is too lazy or ignorant to check out "how to" videos...that is my right. Bungie should make some cool incentives for people who help others out. That may help the seekers out a bit. Join a clan, make friends, watch videos, lie in forums after watching videos and fake it... OR enjoy Destiny without endgame content. A little effort, and you and many others would be Raiding much more often.

                  • It's the people who want to "speed run" it. start it, complete it, get loot, be done. Hardly anyone now wants to take the time/effort to help others learn/complete(I'm not talking about carries) just people who have never attempted it. (Pretty much why I avoid LFG now. All the "must have 2k completions, have "x" weapon and use "z" ability" posts.

                    • Had the same problem when I was your LL. Get up to 575+ and people won’t mind nearly as much. Ideally 590 so you can cluster riven cause good luck finding a team wanting to do it legit.

                    • it’s a lot easier to learn in game if you go on youtube and watch guides first. nothing beats personal experience, but if you have an idea of what is going on then people will be much more willing to bring you along. don’t just watch the guides once, watch them until you have a good understanding of the encounters. it took me 3-4 times watching the guide for each last wish encounter before i even tried to find a group, and i didn’t dare look for one until i was past 590 light with all of my good weapons and gear (cluster bomb bad omens, ikelos shotgun, sleeper, whisper, orpheus rigs, celestial nighthawk etc) infused up to my current level at the time. if you aren’t interested in that and just want to go in and be taught then i don’t know what to tell you. you can’t really expect most people to do that, you would have to get lucky with a really nice and patient group of people.

                    • If you find a good clan that will help. I recently joined a new clan and they have a team of people that carry 1 noob through the raid just about every other day. I ran my first last wish, we wiped once due to me cleansing the wrong plate and all in it took 2 hours.

                    • It is, largely IMO, due to people wanting to "run and gun" it. Go in, kill shit, get loot, and be done with it. Cannot fault people for doing that. It does tend to make it hard for noobs, but that is the way it goes. I feel you though. I have yet to do it myself......
