I don't think it needs a nerf. I like how powerful it is, and considering how long it took me to get it, I want it to continue to be a powerful option. That being said, I do feel like it has hit that territory of being a weapon so good that load outs are focused around it being equipped and narrowing the amount of optimal weapons to use in the secondary slot in PvE. To me, it is very much like the Black Hammer in D1. There wasn't a downside to using it (aside from having to be decent with aiming), and it just outclassed every other gun in the slot. The switch to making the Spindle (and Whisper) into an exotic showed how special that gun was and allowed the sandbox to open up in the special slot to allow a bit more variation and experimentation with load outs.
