This is one of my favorite pve guns in the game. absolutely.....do not......ever.....nerf.....this....gun or change it to exotic (as that is just as dumb).

Just to clarify, it’s not the only weapon I use it’s just one of my favorites and I’m not sure how the weapons I PVE with effect any of the people asking for a nerf. I use non-meta weapons all the time because I enjoy how they feel.

If you have the Ikelos shotgun, there is no need to ever equip anything else. That is a problem.

The point being the Ikelos is objectively the best gun for the energy slot. There is quite literally zero competition. For the other slots you have options that are all relatively equally powerful to some extent. There is no other powerful option for the energy slot. And that isn’t because everything else is weak. It’s because the Ikelos is literally a power weapon that requires special ammo.

I run hand cannon and dual snipers. Usually the curated twilight oath and whisper. I have yet to notice that it's detrimental to my effectiveness.

No other energy weapon actually contends with the Ikelos Shotgun. That’s not debatable.

In terms of sheer power? You're correct. However I do not ever get in close range unless I'm on my Titan. Having the EP shotgun where I'm never gonna use it is pointless. No other shotguns can keep up with it trench barrel + automatic is ridiculously good. Don't change the perks and don't make trench barrel roll on other shotguns because it'd make any shotgun without that roll useless. Slow the fire rate or make it not automatic.

Second idea would be bad for the overall weapon economy. The archetype change would work best. It'd keep the shotgun strong but not a necessity.

How would dropping the trench barrel buff from 50% down to something more reasonable while also making it available to be rolled on other weapons be bad?

Needing trench barrel will make people cry rivers. That in itself is not a problem but it's annoying to hear them complain. Letting it roll on other weapons would make those weapons a necessity. They'd just replace the EP shotty. At least that's what I think would happen I might be wrong though.

I’d be less salty about the Ikelos being so strong if there were at least a few other options for the slot that were also somewhat as strong. The closest thing I can think of is maybe the Coldheart, and even that gets blown away by the Ikelos.

Yeah I kind of get the no options thing. Like I said earlier I just run a sniper in my energy slot and keep my distance.

A bit off topic, but does box breathing actually roll on anything other than linear Fusions? I get that it’s pretty mediocre in its current state, but on higher impact, slower firing snipers I feel like it’d still be decent-ish.

Yeah it rolls on snipers. I actually didn't know it rolled on linear fusions till recently. The curated roll of the Twilight oath has box breathing. I haven't tested it out yet but it seems promising

Yes objectively you would be right. But opinions change and if you can't use another gun like how people are still using Leviathan guns that's just personal opinions. The point is people have the right to use whatever guns they want and just because ikelios is objectively better means that we need better options for that secondary slot. Also doesn't help that guns are elemental locked now....

Putting more pseudo-power weapon boss melters in the energy slot isn’t an option. Might as well just make primaries boss melters, too.

Nothing stops you from swapping to other guns....doesn't matter if other guns are better if a gun is fun to use like ace of spades or curated nation of beasts then I'mma use it for fun.

I said the same thing about black hammer 😭😭 but since its the only shotty with the perk they could possibly make it a exotic without changing anything else, but either way, -blam!- the crybabies calling for nerfs on everything
