Excellent post. Really nice. Unfortunately my experience with social gaming has been mixed. Having said that, I hope to meet more people like you and the people you described, given the direction of the games’ industry in terms of releasing “games as services.”

I hope you do too. It makes a big difference to the experience you have.

Yea, since our exchange I’ve decided to stop playing D2. I can’t do this anymore. The game is not worth all the headache. It takes forever to find a group of people to play with, and then all I hear are expletives from people who are too impatient to meaningfully help a person clear the raid (the people I did Levi with earlier today were chill tho). I’m just tired of the abuse. Moreover, I don’t like the pvp. I guess I’m one of the few who liked it when you couldn’t get a shotgun blast to the face every 5 seconds. I managed to clear the two main raids, so I “beat” the game and the Forsaken expansion so to speak. I don’t need to clear the Levi raid lairs, especially if I have to subject myself to such abuse. My experience with D1 was quite different, at least in the beginning when I ran with some pretty chill people. I did Vault and Crota many times. Everyone moved on, but I returned a year after Taken King came out. I beat that raid and the Machine raid exactly once because the experience was less than pleasant. I guess it is what it is. I’m tapping out.

I completely understand. The raid experience is less than fun unless you have a great group. The dungeon is what I prefer to do and easier to get people for. I really hope the dungeons become the raid experience in the future with 3 man teams and exclusive loot.

This this this. All PvE content requiring a group to complete should require only three people ti play. I would continue playing Destiny if this happens. I can no longer put up with 6 person raids.
