One fine morning a young gentleman spartan decided his current helmet lacked class, he decided a momocle was needed and the gungnir was born. Cant wait to unlock it though it looks sweet, gives me a armoured core/monocle man feel. Gungnir is a spear that nerer misses when thrown in some mythology as well if i rember correctly.

The story behind the GUNGNIR Helmet is the plain fact that well, maybe some of us don't want visors.

Some guy thought "i'm gonna make a helmet" and so he did.

That's a brilliant analysis. I think the shoulders are used for bracing the user's arms in addition to making the hauling-around of the weapon a little easier (@ Uberschveinen) [Edited on 10.06.2010 6:22 PM PDT]

It is a spartan welding helmet lolol It really does look like a welding helmet doesn't it?

The GUNGNIR armour was, I think, part and parcel of the Spartan Laser program, designed to protect the user from using the damned thing. The massively over-armoured head is presumably to insulate the user from the monstrous thermal radiation the thing emits on and after firing right next to your head, and the single lens replaces the face-sized visor because that way it could much more easily protect you from the scattered light of the laser firing burning out the helmet's protective film, and then, the user's eyes. I assume the knees are part of a more extensive package to increase the armour's weight tolerance, since the thing weighs that much, and to fire the thing repeatedly you'd need either a much more powerful energy source with huge weight, as well as a significant number of replacement lenses for when it burns itself out. I don't know what the shoulders are for. Maybe easier to carry the Spartan Laser in firing position?

Someone ugly decided to make an uglier helmet to look better. He/She succeeded.
