RNG is not RNG
Sooo I'm ranting about the RNG (I know it's whining, but I can't help it this morning)!
Played 1,374 hours in D1 with the same 5 dudes - NEVER had Gjallarhorn drop... the other 5 dudes ALL had it drop multiple times... I had to buy it.
Have played 30+ hours of Forsaken and have had 5 exotic drops for equipment I already have. No forsaken drops. The other 5 dudes...? They all have multiple Forsaken gear... Cerberus +1, Wavesplitter, LOWolves etc.
I am pleased to say that I cannot stop pulling legendary grenade launchers and sidearems along with endless Scatterhorn armor (FML).
Either I'm extremely unlucky or something doesn't jive....
Anyone else?

Only 30+ hours and five exotic drops? Very lucky indeed, some have played more tgan four times that with no exotic drops at all. On a side note, are you sure your buddies aren’t stealing all your luck from you? Lol

1 ReplyStory.of.my.-blam!-ing.life. I've been playing Destiny since the freaking alpha for D1, and it has always felt like RNG hated my damn guts. Hell, the one and only Gally I ever had in D1 I bought off Xur the second week he ever showed up. Back before anyone knew the God tier weapon it truly was. As for my RNG experience in forsaken? I have played way, WAY, too much and have received 2 exotic drops. Neither were new. Not to mention I have yet to get a single legendary with even a -blam!-ing half decent roll. I finally got the Bad Omen rocket launcher the other day. I can't think of a worse roll than the one I got. It's tremendously disheartening and makes the game feel about as rewarding as one of those claw machines designed to drop shit the moment you think you actually picked it up.

Blame the idiots that wanted only certain people to obtain exotics! I haven’t got one piece of exotic armour since the dlc dropped!

You must first construct a shrine to RNGesus out of your Edge Transits. He will then gift to you an exotic engram containing the Aeon armor.

1 Reply12 ranks of gambit and just as many bounties and still no helmet, the only piece I need and want. Feeling like the odds for the gear that we do want or need are set at a rigged level.

RNG is never RNG, it's pseudo RNG, a number generated within set parameters. In some games, I think you have a random seed generator that might be called luck or something, like a variable that can impact the the outcome of any RNG rolls in your gaming session. The seed could be generated when you log in for example. I'm a bit off with the description I'm sure, and I don't know if that happens in destiny.

1 Replyive played over 100 hours of forsaken and only had one exotic drop and it was a pair of boots from year one. my rng is trash this year it seems.

There are ways to keep loot rare and make it feel "earned" without relying on RNG, but that would take effort.

I feel your pain, played a lot since launch, had 1st exotic engram drop in gambit ( odd i thought ) and of course, its arms. Oh well infused for the power increase. Now as far as the rest of the gear, all i seem to get is armor, nade launcher x 20, side arms x 10, pulse rifles x 20. Nothing else. Can't wait to see some auto rifles drop, rockets, someting besides armor and nade and pulses....

Yer RNG is an odd one. I've had 3 exotic drops with one of them forsaken. I did however get the new Nightfall reward shotgun on the very first attempt!!
