Those who buy the Forsaken expansion from Europe are getting major price hikes. But why did Bungie go for $85, a price point that came in higher than many Europeans were expecting?

8 RepliesEdited by Tau: 7/12/2018 5:21:31 PMThat's for the digital deluxe edition buddy not just the DLC. That also includes the annual pass for 2019 and Cayde's exotic stash and a bunch of ornaments, ships and shaders... In Europe you're paying EUR79.99 for all of that, in Canada we're paying $106.49CAD and I'm not complaining because I know what I'm paying for. If you just want Forsaken and nothing else you'll be paying EUR39.99. You have to realize This DLC has been in development since 2016 which is longer than most full games so expect it to have a high price point. The developers said in an interview that they started planning Destiny 1 back in 2010 and when it released in 2014 they had already started on Destiny 2 along with all the expansions in between. They have already started developing Destiny 3 in a separate building, this stuff takes lots of time and hard work.

This is a bummer :( I don't think Activision will allow Bungie to speak to it but that's just my personal thought...I am fairly certain Activision drives Eververse/silver/expansion + passes pricing...look at the COD series and that may give us a good baseline. Quite expensive to me.

5 RepliesThat’s foresaken + annual pass Foresaken is just 40

6 RepliesEdited by Kemaleon: 7/12/2018 4:35:32 PMThats not how it works I'm afraid. Its down to the different tax rates in different countries and has always been that way. Games are cheaper in the US than in the UK, Australia and countries that use the Euro. But the US is more expensive than Argentina, Brazil, Hong Kong etc. I personally buy games and DLC digitally from different regions and save quite a bit of money that way, if you're interested in the differences Check out this Xbox comparrison website for an idea of how dramatic these differences can be. At the time The Division was released the all-singing gold edition cost £80 in the UK, I got it from the Argentina store for £32. Just an example for you. But yeah, its the tax that does it. Bungie is not making more money from people paying with the Euro. In fact the way the Euro is right now, and with Bungie actually based in the US, they probably make less out of those sales than they do US sales. Don't blame Bungie, blame the governments.
-
Bungie hates their community in other countries just a little more.
-
2 RepliesProbably has something to do with regional conversion and how gaming in general is handled there.
-
2 RepliesIt’s definitely worth every penny. It ought to be twice the price for all the enjoyment we get from the game.
-
1 ReplyThe way I see it, you have to ask yourself one question. Do you feel luc...nah seriously, are you ready to just delete your characters and not play the game anymore? If the answer is no, then the cost of the DLC is irrelevant. It's just a little more than the cost of a new game, and it gets you through a whole year of updates.
-
4 RepliesWhere do you people come from? Forsaken isn't $70 or 70 euros...
-
2 RepliesThis is literalyl every game EVER. Every game released has its regional equivalent, ignoring conversion rates, and often does not change depending on how the econemy is. This is such a stupid post. A 60$ is always £45 in the UK, has been for literal decades. Therefore Forsaken is $40 and £35, thats just how it is, don't ask Bungie.
-
9 RepliesJesus, you people are dense. He's saying bungie are dicks for charging 70€ for a game that costs 70$. Its about conversion rate. Quit being default fanboy dickriders and actually read what he typed.
-
The Forsaken DLC is only 39.99
-
2 RepliesGreed. From a slaving hasbeen developer, whoring for the most cancerous publisher after EA.
-
1 ReplyEververse was supposed to pay for the "content updates", but as everyone kept bitching about Eververse items not being attainable through activity play, this is what you get.
-
12 RepliesI'm not worried about the price of the DLC... I'm upset that I am forced to buy two DLC (Osiris and Warmind) that I have no interest in ever playing.
-
9 RepliesThis same thing happened when Taken King was being marketed. Bungie doesn't believe in conversion rates. Eurogamer: Taken King costs £39.99, which is almost same as base game. Does its content justify that? Luke Smith: I'm going to use American dollars, because British pounds are just foreign to me... Eurogamer: Literally foreign. SMH
-
Yes they can. People will buy it regardless. Now, was that hard to figure out?
-
2 RepliesMajor? Hardly...The 70 euro version comes with the season pass, that same version is $80. So a $5 dollar difference, hardly a major price hike. Same as Just the Forsaken DLC is 35 Euro but $40. This is actually fairly normal.
-
5 RepliesTired of people saying this. Can you actually not read? Forsaken by itself is 40. The digital deluxe edition is 85. Learn to read dumbass. Taken King was 40 dollars as well. Jesus christ these posts are getting old.
-
Sadly all I can say is maybe change your region and buy it from the US market for a price break. Other than that sorry.
-
£34.99 for Forsaken. Thats about $45 dollars.
-
We're listening. -Bungie
-
There seem to be many here confused there is conversion rate the euro is worth more than the dollar. It’s not the first time bungie has done this. I think the difference is the tariffs going in. At least I think that was the excuse deej gave a few years back.
-
11 RepliesI'll get thousands of hours of enjoyment out of it, I don't care about the price.
-
28 RepliesThe problem here isn't bungie charging 70 for the forsaken. The problem is with your reading comprehension. The site clearly states, 40. Now if you want to throw in the annual pass to go along with it. That would be 70.
