Watching Pacific Rim, Independence Day, and their Sequels

<Let me start this by saying that I don't know everything about movies and literally everything here is my opinion. Also most of this is just me venting. Alright let's go. Independence Day So, I actually quite like this movie. It's kinda dumb at parts but it's not soulless. It's a destruction movie so there's gonna be shit that blows up. There's aliens so there's gonna be some things that make no sense realistically, like how nobody gets burned when 16 mile wide Nilla wafers come down from space with a lot of fire and smoke in front of them from passing through the atmosphere. It's enjoyable to watch, the practical effects are good enough and the music really -blam!-ing adds to it. Seriously, sit down and listen to the soundtrack sometime. It's great, even the edited down official release... but do try to find the full version some time. Also whoever wrote "that speech" is a -blam!-ing genius. I would gladly watch this again. Independence Day: Resurgence Well... this was unexpected. Usually sequels don't wait more than 10 years. Sometimes a long delay is a good thing, gives editors and writers time. The Incredibles 2 is a great example. This... wasn't. When I came to see this movie, I wasn't expecting much. Knowing the kinda movies Roland likes to make, I shouldn't expect anything but neat effects and shit blowing up. The prospect of a ship the size of the -blam!-ing moon making an appearance and actually getting close to Earth interested me as well. Let me say that every shot with the Harvester ship was -blam!-ing cool... but that's it. We had one major scene with it and it got kinda pushed off to the side because we had a Traveler rip-off (cannot believe I'm saying that) and another alien queen to deal with. Another thing to note, at least in my opinion, is that the soundtrack did not deliver. I remember a total of 3 tracks from that movie. Guess what? They all have to do with the giant moon-sized spaceship. Conclusion? The only thing noteworthy about this movie is the giant moon-sized spaceship. Pacific Rim I also like this movie. I've been a fan of random shit blowing up and dear god this movie delivered... and more! While the story really wasn't GREAT it was good enough, which surprised me. The visuals were stunning, the music was pretty kickass, and dear god giant robots fighting giant monsters is awesome. Seriously it's badass. Nothing more to say. OK yeah couple dumb moments here and there, but that sword. Pacific Rim: Uprising This is... both underwhelming and surprising. Like IDR I wasn't expecting much. I remembered how the latter went and how the first Pacific Rim went and I thought, "OK, giant monsters and giant robots, that's it". For the most part, that's all it really was. Wasn't really interested in any of the characters besides Mako... that worked out. Shit got weird as everything I remembered about Kaiju biology got flipped on its head and now it's like the Flood or some shit. Also the Precursors from the first one got a major psionic upgrade. BUT, I can say this. The action scenes were pretty good. Unrealistic and certainly not carrying the same weight the first one did, but it was still cool. On that front, I was pleasantly surprised. The music was also not that bad. I actually remember and revisit the soundtrack. It makes some of the fight scenes more memorable, no matter how stupid they can be. If I watch this again, I definitely have to skip to the fight scenes though.>
