1) do away with the adventures aspect
2) make it to where Osiris wants us to find our best possible future by training within the infinite forest or eliminating threats the infinite forest generates
3) open it up for exploration
4) allow us to add modifiers like the health regen is slowed, buy Shields regen faster and randomize it weekly
5) make it increasingly difficult the further you travel
6) let high level enemies and chests within the forest drop masterwork cores
7) let Vance sell masterwork gear for cores and rotate his inventory
Don't put a period at the end of this....with PoE and the escalation protocol, it's a little disappointing that these things end or have finite levels of difficulty. Although I'm excited to play EP, I'd rather Lord it over everyone how far we traveled into the depths of something like an infinite forest

5 RepliesAll great thoughts and ideas, but to be honest I don't want Bungie to use any resources on old content. Warmind is right around the corner and I want that to be the short term focus and of course keeping the long term focus on September and really getting this game in the state we all want it to be.

They should use the Forest to bring back the old Raids for those unfortunate enough to have never experienced them before (i.e. me). After all, the Forest can simulate anything, right?
-
They should bring back key specific chests like in the Dreadnaught like hae players find specific ex mind cores that drop from boss rotations as well as hidden weapon quests like in rise of iron for things like Outbreak Prime add puzzles and a sense of mystery D2s biggest problem is that it lays it all out there so you no what happens next that is their attempt at applying to a wider audience. I feel like with their next expansions they need to go back to what they're good at listening to the community and surprising us.

3 RepliesPersonally, I'd like the infinite forest to just be removed, because me like most other people just rush through it.
-
I think they should add exclusive prophecy weapons to the forest based on how far you get in the forest. That way, people can grind for exclusive loot.
-
Love it, how about having some exclusive rewards such as vex weapons? I'd love to have rare drops such as Hobgoblin beam rifles or vex looking armour (even if they do just re add the VoG set)

Edited by EMW ZEEK: 4/27/2018 6:22:33 PMDestiny enemies dont scale well. We would be hitting immune damage very quickly. Therefore difficulty scaling over time cannot work in destiny. Or at the very least not half as well as it can in warframe. This is a warfarme idea.

Who cares, wont ever happen.

I was thinking the infinite forest could be a different version of the prison of elders. Different platforms had different mechanics and bosses and as you progress it gets harder and the loot gets better.

I like

6) let high level enemies and chests within the forest drop masterwork cores 7) let Vance sell masterwork gear for cores and rotate his inventory
Lol, get grinding like the rest of us.

My fix for the infinite forest is to actually just play God Of War instead.

1 ReplyI was so shocked that the infinite forest wasn’t open to exploration especially considering how small mercury is.
-
Id love to be able to go into the forest and just keep going and going and going till you can reach a doorway far beyond anything you can see when you start.
-
1 ReplyI thought it would be cool if they were like Nephilim Rifts from Diablo 3. I mean your premise is almost how I envisioned.
-
Yeeaahh... Infinite Forest is currently a badly wasted opportunity for amazing things. Examples: D1 strike sections/bosses, D2 story sections, D1 Raid sectors and bosses, D1 & D2 Raid puzzles that you need to know/solve for progression, etc... You get the idea. Coulda been great. Instead, I sprint the tops of everything because it’s just tedious. But it’s depressing cause I SEE the potential! Feels bad, man. 😢
-
I know exactly what you talking about. I just opened all of the chests there.
-
How about random modifiers?

This is a great idea, upvoted

Great feedback! This actually sounds really cool

1 ReplyI can dig this idea. The Muspelheim Trials in Destiny 2's Infinite Forest.

Edited by Final: 4/26/2018 9:07:06 PMYes infinite forest should be like a test or trial that progressively gets harder. You could end the forest by making us go to past present or future. Tie it to public event like escalation protocol. (The forest would have to be a separate zone at this point.) Just make it ever changing. Like different paths and platforms rotate out on a like 2 min timer.

4 RepliesI got a better idea Don't play Destiny 2 Play "fun" games like God of War, Legend of Zelda, and Super Mario Odyssey.

yes all of this is yes

2 RepliesEdited by JJIBIIIS: 4/26/2018 5:06:02 PMProgression and a learning curve, awesome idea! Have it multi levelled and initially have 20 floors and build on it with each expansion, that maybe caps game end around 100! Final fantasy 11 had a similar end game event where you climbed a tower to unlock mythic weapons, even obtaining the base weapon before it upgrade allowed you to learn its tactical point weapon skill once you grounded with the base weapon. But it seems that those that have the vision at Bungie have blinkers on and can’t see a broader spectrum due to the tunnel vision they have! Anyone at Bungie: go take a look at the very dated Final fantasy 11 and take a good look at the mechanics in a decades old game and tell me your actually trying with this game in 2018!
