Legends ch2: The Encounter

The Hunter surprised by the sudden command and sense of dread cursed himself. "How stupid of me," he thought " I should have kept a closer eye on the entrance." But that didn't make sense to him he would have heard anyone come in, so where did the guy now holding a shotgun to his back come from. "I won't ask twice," said the impatient exo. Sighing the hunter slowly turned around and saw a warlock standing there with a rather old looking shotgun pointed at his face. The warlocks armor looked beaten and battered with scratches all over the visor of his helmet, no doubt from countless battles. "Who are you, and what are you doing here?" The warlock asked The hunter was so surprised by the sudden appearance of this warlock that he almost forgot why he was there. Could this be the warlock I'm looking for, he thought to himself. "I'm a hunter of the last city's vanguard and I'm here looking for a warlock who is said to be able to control all three of the warlock subclasses in battle simultaneously," the hunter said in response to his question, "That wouldn't happen to be you, would it?" This question gave the warlock pause as he considered how he should answer, "Where exactly did you hear these rumors from?" He finally said trying to dodge the question. "Hold up," the hunter said, "you have to answer my question f---." "Shhhhh," the warlock interrupted putting his hand out. "Don't interrupt m-----" "No, shhhh," the warlock said holding a finger up to his helmet, "Do you hear that?" The hunter strained to hear whatever the warlock was talking about. Then the warlock tackled him just in time as the invisible blade of a stealth vandal sliced the air where his neck just was. The warlock summoned a blast of energy from his palm sending the vandal flying into the far wall. The warlock got up and summoned his pulse rifle quickly picking off more invisible foes. The hunter brought up his hand canon and unloaded its rounds into three more stealth vandals. The hunter was then kicked back into the ground and a vandals foot pressed into his chest with its blade raised above its head. The hunter tried to fire his hand canon only to find its mag empty. Before the vandal could drive its sword into his head the warlock send a burst of electricity from his two outstretched palms sending the vandal convulsing backwards. As the warlock helped the hunter up the vandals, losing the element of surprise, deactivated their stealth. The two guardians found themselves totally surrounded on all sides with more vandals dropping in from the big gaping hole in the ceiling. "Back away from me and don't touch me," whispered the warlock under his breath The hunter looked over his shoulder at the warlock then did as he said as he saw electricity begin to chain around his body. Then the warlock hovered in the air and summoned his storm trance. As one of the vandals charged he sent a single burst of lightning from his hand that charred the vandal. Then, to the hunters utter surprise, the lighting burst starting chaining from enemy to enemy killing them then moving on to the next. The panicked vandals charged before the lighting moved on to them and each was met with their own burst of lighting and death. Soon all that remained was their charred corpses. Seeming satisfied the warlock came out of his storm trance and floated to the ground. "How in the speakers name did you do that?" The hunter asked incredulously, " I've seen many storm callers in action but none who could something like that." "I'm not an ordinary warlock," he said in response not looking at the hunter. He noted how he said warlock instead of stormcaller and made a note to ask him about that later. The warlock looked up then at the hunter, "You got a ship?" He asked "Yeah, I got a ship," the hunter responded confused by his question. What guardian didn't have a ship. "Good," he said seeming satisfied, "you can transmat as outside, it's no longer safe here." He said while walking outside the cave into the sunlight. Not being left with any other options the hunter reluctantly followed him into the cold wasteland of the cosmodrome.
