If I mute all the negative people...

Will I only hear from the positive folks in the community? Serious question from anyone who has tried to mute all the negative users. Does the forums’ quality improve? Culture is super important. And I think that the negativity in this culture has had an impact on my perception/reflection of this game in the past. I think Destiny is really fun. But many players in the community are not. Many are entitled. Will the mute/block options erase these players from my experience within the Destiny app? I’d like to only hear from positive users.

        • If it is well worded and constructive I don't mute people that post negative posts or comments. The ones who just post snide remarks or out right make personal attacks yea I mute them.

          • ITT: OP needs an even safer space than the safe space that bungie already cultivated by butchering access to their public forums. Please mute me so you don’t accidentally respond to one of my posts, reading it may cause brain damage and I need every cell I have left after playing this digital heap of tumors.

Personally if I was you I'd take a step back and wonder why is my perception/reflection getting influenced by others and work on changing that, It's also good to understand where negativity is coming from because 9 times out of 10 there's a good reason for it, wether we agree or not don't matter to much, a negitive to me could be a positive for someone else.

                  • Let me first state that I love Destiny 2. I still get on with friends and enjoy running nightfalls and raids. Hmmm... I must say, while it is a wonderful desire, there is no running from what is in motion. I too would like to know only positivity, kindness, and peace of mind. I had obtained it many times, and I hated it. A positive person exists only if a negative one accompanies them in a plane of existence, be it virtual or real, textual, or verbal, with tones to build an atmosphere of cognition. Yes I am unusual thinking this way but I understand that to see the love or compassion... or simple kindness of a human, I must know the worst of humans. I must know how terrible or rude or angry, crazy, insane, irrational, bias, arrogant, selfish... even violent. Then when one is clean(the perspective of a positive person to a negative) I can appreciate that. Perhaps there are variables, such as tolerance, appeasement and the toughest one, trust. I can say I am immune to verbal negativity, but textual is always uncertain. Anynitomy is powerful is it takes nothing to pull it off. Let me wrap this up. Rejoice in those that are positive, and embrace the negativity that shadows it. If you desire a perfect world, this way is closer to it. Negativity never leaves, positivity never left.

                    • Or better yet if you can't handle the negativity on the forums then don't go on it. To mute everyone who is negative would take an insane amount of time and energy

                        • The problem would be the people you define as negative are all diffetent people with different views. Some might appear positive on some subjects and appear negative on others. It's down to an individuals perception if its negative or not. I see the people who reply to post with 'just leave the game if you dont like it' just as negative as someone who is titles a post 'D2 Sucks'. There are people at both extremes of the spectrum that have negative impacts on the game and community. The problem is more down to how this forum works, the vast majority of people only ever look at the trending posts, as its the default forum page. Most the threads that make it there are started by people at the extremes of the spectrum with polarizing views that get a lot of replies. If you go to the latest posts there's a lot of threads with reasonable disscussions, good ideas and come across positive whether they a praising or being critical.

                                    • What you suggest is possible, but you'll be doing a lot of muting. I'd suggest simply muting the really obnoxious ones. Some of the negative posts are from people who genuinely want D2 to become the game it should have been. I wouldn't mute those.

I wish. One of the app updates since D2 launched had completely broken the mute functionality. The users' posts still appear in the forums, but they only show the comments when you click the thread. RIP an actually useful tool.
