I just bought Nintendo Switch

I just bought Nintendo Switch with Mario Odyssey and Mario Cart... What other games should I try other than Zelda? And why are all the games full price. I am surprised that year after release I still had to pay full price for games, does Nintendo ever discount major titles? Overall I really like this little console, and it is pretty cool. Thanks for your feedback

  • Looks like you're getting the main three which is good. You also want Splatoon 2 if you're into shooters. My personal recomendations are Mario + Rabbids and Dragon Quest Builders. Both amazing.

      • Great buy! Lets see...games I recommend... Only get Skyrim if you havent played it before. Its pointless if you've already played it in a different console. Get Splatoon 2 if you can! The multiplayer is rock solid and Its so far my third most played game on the Switch! It might be too similar to the first Splatoon back from the Wii U days, but it's still a ton of fun with a few new features to keep it fresh (Splatoon pun entirely intended). I personally didn't enjoy this game from a narrative perspective compared to the rest of the Zelda games, but if you're a fan of open world games, try Breath of the Wild! Doom is on Switch as well. Again, get this game if you haven't played it before. If you enjoy RPGs, there's Xenoblade Chronicles 2. I've played the first one (the 3ds port) and it's a great game if you're a fan of RPGs. Wait for Smash Bros as well. And there's all of my recommendations so far! I might extend this later if I have more. Nintendo RARELY discounts their own original games. I guess the only games they discount is either Indies or third party games.

        • Nintendo first-party game prices stay high. Other than some sales or MAYBE price cuts, most games will maintain their price for years. Mario+Rabbids was a fun game. Splatoon 2 as well. Definitely try the Kirby demo. ARMS is on sale on the eShop for $42 or so. Very unique and if you like fighting games, definitely check it out. Pokken Tournament is a neat little Pokemon fighting game. Mario Tennis Aces, Donkey Kong: Tropical Freeze, Hyrule Warriors, and Captain Toad are all coming soon. Three of those are ports, but the Wii U was trash lol. Also, tennis boss fights + playable Chain Chomp = automatic buy from me lol.

          • Wait for smash bros. or dark souls. In the state it’s in now, I would recommend Skyrim because it’s portable.

Try the store to download games, there are a range of titles and prices. I recommend Enter the Gungeon, Stardew Valley, and Darkest Dungeon. edit - and Skyrim

              • Kirby: Star Allies! The game’s a blast to play solo, and has a great 4-player couch coop to boot. And, their first update, adding 3 new Dream Friends, released not too long ago, meaning you’ll get Rick, Kine, Coo, Gooey, and Marx to play with right from the get go! I can type you up a full review if you want, but it’s the best game currently on the Switch, imo.

                • I wanted to buy a switch, but I couldn't see myself spending 350 dollars for a console for just 1 game that I also have to buy. that being said I will probably cave and buy one for super smash bros when it comes out.

                  • Prices usually go down with popularity. If a game remains popular, there won’t be any reason to discount the price. Maybe after another year we’ll see discounts on BotW.
