Destiny 2 Strike Specific Loot Disappointing

***Spoilers if you want to keep strike loot a secret*** _ _ _ _ What the hell happened? In Destiny 2 we just saw the launch of the new "Gotta Go Fast" update and with it came strike specific loot. We waited for this, and already had it delayed a month due to the reasoning that the "looks" were wanting to be improved. Well I'm not sure what looks they were working on. In Destiny 1 we saw thematic strike loot. They were inspired by the bosses we spent hours grinding and they differentiated themselves from other loot in the game. However, going off the first drop of this this update, they forgot or ignored both of these aspects in the design. Silicon Neuroma drops off of Brakion, a boss that has been set up as the nemesis of Asher Mir, the Vex that took his arm, and one mean mother that will one shot you with his sniper. Key word his sniper. So it would go to think that we would get his gun as loot, the model is already in game as well as the firing animation, sound effects, and more specifically; lore. What we instead received was another sniper that will see some play but only in crucible but is still likely to be eclipsed by New Monarchy's sniper and the Long Walk. And this is the thing, the gun is one of the hardest snipers to get in the game, it should be one of the best. It should look unique and not just a stretched out Hakke body with a switchable perk on the end. This is where the additional strikes also have me worried. Only three strikes carry weapon rewards, where we then get a recoloured/skinned ghost and ship that don't add to anything, and two sparrows that also don't add to anything. Here are my suggestions to Bungie on how to fix or improve the strike specific loot: 1. Add armour pieces - Half of the armour sets in game are lazy recolourations with small varying patterns to differentiate them. Give us Asher Mir's robot arm for Warlocks. Give us Thaviks Head for Hunters. Give us Valus Thuun's Chest Piece for Titans. The models are there, it's easier than making from scratch. 2. Model the drops off of the bosses we get them from - Brakion's Sniper and his Flame cannon. Savathun's tracking levitating void blasts as a grenade launcher. Protheon, Modular Mind's Solar Cannon or Arc Slap Rifle. 3. Make them functionally unique - Or at least differentiated than just an extra perk on the end of the perk tree. From what we've seen so far, they don't do anything different, or fire any way different from normal loot. This is just to name a few, and the art assets are already in game. The only loot within this update that fits the one of these criteria is the D.F.A. Hand cannon that will drop in the Tree of Probabilities strike. Its looks like it was modeled after Valus Thuun's own gun and is therefore is pretty unique looking among hand cannons.. TLDR; I would say to Bungie bring back the care we have for these items, make them useful for the rarity they are, make them unique to use and look at, make them inspired or even just ripped from the bosses. We want "strike specific loot" not just recolours or rehashing of other gun models.
