Common consensus is that it’s clear that guided games is a failing experiment at this point. Long wait times for seekers and other issues mean it’s hardly used.
I had an idea how you could make finding players easier and better for non match made content (other than introducing matchmaking). Many have reservations about slapping matchmaking onto raids/ trials etc as you have no control over the skill level/ experience of those who you match up with.
So to matchmake players and allow people to assess other player’s skill and experience, I suggest adding areas to the tower designed to facilitate matching those wanting to do the same thing.
It would work like this, you have several bars at the tower, each representing a specific activity (raid, trials etc). The leviathan raid bar could be purple and the trials bar could be blue and so on. Each bar is similar to the jukebox area in D1 tower.
To get access to the bar you have to go past a sweeper bot “bouncer”. They make it so that you have to have a corresponding emblem equipped that shows your stats relating to that activity. If a player hasn’t yet got an emblem representing that activity they get a “seeker” one. The bouncer also acts as a vendor for all the allowed emblems in the bar, so you don’t have to go all the way to the vault to pick one up. The emblem choice is up to the player to decide, to show their skills in the best way.
So for example if I went to the trials bar I’d go to the bouncer. They would let me pick up a selection of pvp themed emblems that show stats. So I have the choice to wear my emblem that shows I’ve been flawless x amount of times, or I can wear the emblem that shows my godly kd for example. Then in the bar everyone can inspect each other’s emblems and send friend requests/ invites etc as normal.
I think it would actually give all these emblems bungie are forcing on us some purpose, instead of being pointless content filler. And cayde could be at one of the bars too (unless his love for exo alcohol has been retconned already)

1 ReplyIt's in interesting idea. However, it would be geared more towards people that have already done those activities. The "seeker" emblem would indicate who is looking for help, but in most LFG forums you see people posting their "requirements" to run with them. So more times than not the "seeker" emblem people would most likely be ignored. [quote] So for example if I went to the trials bar I’d go to the bouncer. People can already have the emblem they wish to display equipped and anyone in the the tower can see the list of everyone in the tower and see their emblems / inspect them / etc, then send invites.

nah just add full matchmaking to the normal raid and make it easier require manual teams for the 'hard modes' of the raids such crap to lockout chunks of the game from buyers when there is an obvious solution

yea lets disable it till it can be reworked into the game properly.

Extra loot for "guides" is the best approach. Keep it simple Just launch an activity. Automatically matchmake people into the fireteam. The top half of the team by some metric are the "guides" and will get double loot. Show stats on a matchmaking screen, give people a few seconds to leave if they don't like the team matching (e.g they find they are not a guide or really don't like the team composition). Replace them quickly and reset the timer until the activity launches.

Want to fix guided games? Do two things. First and foremost, make endgame relevant, with great gear to chase after. Second, to incentivize guides, for instance raiders, make your seeker a SEVENTH member on the team. Tell me one raid team that would turn down the extra DPS of a 7th person? Same goes for nightfall.

You had me at drinking bar!

2 RepliesGreat idea but a problem for inexperienced players looking to play high end activities. Sherpas need to be rewarded with desirable and exclusive loot to entice them to help new players which IMO will also improve the destiny community. Coupled with your very good idea, this would be a huge improvement from the guided games concept.

8 RepliesAt first I just thought this would be matchmaking for high/drunk people.. While I like your idea I think mine is also a good option to add.. "LFG for IB.. I'm 2 tumblers of glenfiddich in so don't expect much else but some fun!"

Considering the rating of the game... Why would you have a bouncer at a soda bar?

1 ReplyThis is probably the single coolest idea I've seen on these forums.

I love this idea
