I don’t understand, what is the point of crucible? It isnt even very fun. Does it just exist as a half-baked gamemode for a milestone? I know having a PvP mode is almost required in fps games these days but why have one if it isn’t balanced or even fun? Trust me, I couldn’t care less about balance in games ... if the balance does not take away the enjoyment of the pvp mode in said game, but in Destiny 2 it does... so what is the point?
(Edited so it was a bit more clear)

When they were producing the D2 grift they were like- “Hey, we gotta throw in a PVP format to round out the grift.” The result is the steaming pile known as D2 Quickplay & Competitive(lol). I think it truly is as simple as that. There was no real thought put into D2. They just took D1 season 1 template and made it as bare bones as possible and used it to squeeze a huge chunk of change out of players that they knew were expecting more.

To crush your enemies. See them driven before you. To hear the lamentations of their women.

Lore-wise, Shaxx created it as a live-fire training ground after twilight gap to prepare gaurdians for any future city invasions. Gameplay-wise, it's your classic pvp-mode. Usually, it's what keeps the really dedicated players coming back, but there are not usual times...

Edited by XX_HOLT_XX: 2/28/2018 2:06:09 PMWhat is sad is that the ENTIRE game is centered around the crucible. How can you build your entire game around the crucible and not deploy dedicated servers, SBMM, and game mode selection? The leadership at Bungie has NO CLUE what they are doing https://www.bungie.net/en/Forums/Post/243454629?sort=0&page=0

I like pvp

What is the point of games in general? There is no point, people just enjoy doing it in their free time.

It has no point and never did
-
It used to be a fun game mode that was used to prolong general game play in an FPS, but then Bungie started to try and make it a competitive shooter. The game will never be accepted as a competitive shooter, nor will it ever be taken seriously. It was just be a fun little game mode where we could use our abilities and good weapons against each other for fun but, Destiny 2 came along. Bungie decided it would be fantastic to focus on clans and teamwork because of how popular it was on Twitch. Unfortunately, Bungie completely misinterpreted why it was popular, and Destiny 2 PvP was born. The biggest casualty from Bungie's misinterpretation is PvE, and it's not because of "balance", it's because Bungie needed to create an incentive for people to join clans and be in fireteams. What's the best way? The best way is to make everybody individually weak, and make it so almost everything needs to be team shot. I killed a yellow bar Knight in Destiny 1 yesterday in just a few blasts from a pulse rifle while being max light, but in Destiny 2 it can take full clips of most weapons just to kill a regular Knight... That has nothing to do with the game being balanced for PvP, it's because the game is balanced for teamwork. PvE is working exactly as Bungie intended.

The point of crucible is to destroy the destiny franchise and its mission is almost complete

Edited by Milk: 2/25/2018 9:14:28 PMHow else are we supposed to know who to listen to? The higher your K/D/A the more your opinion matters. Without that, we might just go around listening to people based on a complex mix of how good their arguments are, whether or not their beliefs line up with our own and if we can follow their logic to a reasonable conclusion that, while we might not agree with, we can certainly understand, and what kind of topsy turvy world lets that nonsense happen right?

Some people find it fun

Tell me, how can PvP not be "balanced or even fun," yet you complain about how balance takes away the enjoyment of the PvP mode in the same post?
-
There is no such thing as a gamer anymore. It's really sad actually. All I see is children crying about not being rewarded with crap. What ever happened to fun?
-
It was originally supposed to be casual fun, but the crybaby PvP community turned it onto a slow, boring, wannabe MLG nerf fest, and they -blam!-ed up PvE in the process. Then Bungie built D2 around PvP balance and killed the franchise.
-
In D1 originally it was a place to try out and brag with the weapons you have got through grinding PVE. Then Trials and streamers took a hold and Bungie saw a cheaper and easier option to develop their game. Basically it was supposed to be a bit of fun on the side but all the FPS competitive sweaty cockends pushed their agenda and here we are.

I know there aren't many of us, but some people do enjoy that style of PvP. That being said, R6 Siege does it better.

Legendary shards?

I like crucible because it's the only thing in the game that's really challenging. I play it for fun, and tbh it gets more fun the better I get. A lot of it up to this point has been relearning mechanics though. I hadn't played D1 for the last 2 years. To answer your question, I play Crucible to get better. That's the point for me. And it's really the only way to constantly get better.
-
I originally thought Crucible was the place you went after you did the PvE grind and got bad ass loot. Way I figured, there was lots of legendaries and exotics to be found that were ridiculous, and you'd set your build and take it into battle against other OPAF builds and weapons. Apparently I was wrong though, and have been all along. What we actually wanted was this boring shit called "balance". So, this is what we got.

Edited by NewWorldFungus: 2/27/2018 1:06:02 AMTwitch publicity is one factor I think. But there is also something exciting about unpredictable gameplay especially with this games mechanics.

Fun is this week's game mode... 6v6, mayhem clash baby cakes. I'll be back in destiny 2 minus 4yrs when they make it more like destiny yr3
-
I play PvP for fun, but loosing in d2 crucible is very not fun, in d1 at least you could still have fun while loosing.
-
To have fun. But fun hasn't been introduced into destiny 2 yet.

Fun 🤗
