I have to make an apology to all fellow Destiny players in this community. I made a post agreeing with Bungie on Eververse about the loot boxes by saying it wasn't gambling. I was wrong. It is according to my friend who is a Florida State Legislature. He pointed out that loot boxes is like a slot machine and is therefore considered gambling. I'm 48 and love Destiny so much that I was completely blind and naive to it. Right now as I write this, the State of Florida along with many other states are trying to pass a bill to end loot boxes in video games. My friend went as far as to say by making the game available to minors and offering these loot boxes for actual money is considered marketing gambling to minors which happens to be a felony in the State of Florida. So again my fellow Destiny gamers I am truly sorry for my mistake.

In my opinion, Eververse purchases are as much gambling as buying a pack of Pokemon cards. Or one of those LOL or Kinder Suprise toys that come with candy and a random toy. Or hell, giving your kid a quarter in the restaurant so she can put it in the gumball machine is gambling also, based on this logic. The truth is that if you play a slot machine, there's a high chance you'll get nothing at all. And until an Eververse pack opens up and says ''Sorry bro, this box is empty!'' it's not gambling. It's just another poor way to spend your money. What really triggered me to write this post is the idea that you had an opinion, but after talking with your legislator friend you changed your stance so strongly that you felt the need to post an apology to random strangers on the internet. I hope that your reason is that this friend who happens to be in government is someone of unimpeachable character that you've known your entire life. Because if it's only because of his job that you changed your stance, I have a request: Never vote again.
