Just remove Eververse, no tweaks, no free loot boxes. Only removal.

There was a response to all this criticism about the Eververse tucked away on the Game Directors twitter, rather than anywhere more noticeable. Here it is and what it says:
And finally, I know we say it a lot, but we hear your feedback on Eververse. We both want our players to feel respected, and to deliver great content regularly to our community. Expect lots of discussion with the dev team and an update on our path forward after the new year.
I see Bungie tweaking Eververse so it's less of a focus but still there to keep making the money. I can guarantee you that they would slowly keep updating Eververse until it goes back to being the main focus of Destiny 2 or 3. If Bungie removed Eververse it would be huge, not just for the franchise but for other games as well. It would show that Publishers and Game Developers can't get away with bad, lazy game design just because it makes a huge amount of money. Bungie have Activision, a multi-billion dollar company that could easily step in to cover costs. Bungie wouldn't go belly up, Activision wouldn't allow that. If Eververse is removed content from updates and DLC would have to be unlocked through playing the game itself, imagine if they did it like Halo 3 where if you did a specific task you would unlock that specific piece of gear. Have pride in what you wear because of how difficult it was to achieve, not because you got lucky. Accept nothing other than total removal of loot boxes and micro-transactions.

  • Back when I was a kid video games were $50. 00 USD. That's equivalent to over $90.00 today. Over the last 25 years the budget for games has grown substantially. We used to see teams of 10 to 30 people give me a single player campaign over 8 hours long for well over what 90 dollars in today's currency. Now we're looking at a whole company, in this case BUNGIE, that literally is expected to continue to produce content to keep you constantly entertained WHILE PAYING THEIR WORKERS ENOUGH TO FEED THEIR FAMILIES. I bet you all watched star wars this month. Take all the money you paid on watching star wars, divide it by the hours the movie lasted. Take all the money you spent on destiny and divide it by the hours you played destiny. I would be shocked if you didnt end up near just over a dollar or two per hour of entertainment. This endless complaining about bungie selling cosmetic upgrades TO MAKE THE MONEY THEY NEED TO PAY THEIR EMPLOYEES is ridiculous. Blizzard doesn't get crap over their micro transaction system despite how simular it is. Hearthstone constructed is clearly Pay to Win and nobody says a word. I'm assuming most of the anti eververse people on this forum are children because they actually have the time to pull this crap. Grow up.

    • Let me get this straight: you want them to remove something that no one is forced to use, but it still gives them extra money? Lol that isnt gonna happen. Instead of demanding removal, how about people just use self control and dont spend money? Simple. Also, even if they did remove eververse, there still is that issue of rng. So the majority of those complaining about what Tess has, would still be complaining cause they havent gotten whatever it is they want to drop for them.

In D1 you only got like 5 motes for leveling up past the cap, now we get extra stuff and people get up set. I know that they direct you to the store to claim the reward buy you don't have to buy anything. Control your urge to buy silver if u feel guilty about it, u can get all the rewards the fun way by just playing the game.

        •
I see Bungie tweaking Eververse so it's less of a focus but still there to keep making the money.
So long as spending money isnt necessary to advance in the game, microtransactions arent a problem. Also, you cant blame a company, who has shareholders and partners, for making money.
I can guarantee you that they would slowly keep updating Eververse until it goes back to being the main focus of Destiny 2 or 3.
How are cosmetic items the focus of a shooter game? Name one shooter whose selling point is being able to purchase cool ingame accessories. There hasnt been one, and destiny never has been and never will become one.
If Bungie removed Eververse it would be huge, not just for the franchise but for other games as well. It would show that Publishers and Game Developers can't get away with bad, lazy game design just because it makes a huge amount of money.
Lazy game design has little to do with a supposed cash grab in the cosmetic department. If you want to show the industry that they can't get away with shit tier games, abandon the game or just dont buy it. Getting rid of cosmetic microtransactions in one game will do nothing to the industry.
Bungie have Activision, a multi-billion dollar company that could easily step in to cover costs. Bungie wouldn't go belly up, Activision wouldn't allow that.
Explain to me one real world situation where a company slowrd production on the premise that their investment firm would pump money into them and keep them afloat. This has never been pulled off, and never will (unless in some tax evasion tactic). Companies dont reach into their own pockets to cover costs. If you remove a non core-game related cosmetic revenue maker, bungo will have to recover losses and with non core-game prospects ruled out, you'll cop microtransactions which do affect gameplay and end up pay to win.
If Eververse is removed content from updates and DLC would have to be unlocked through playing the game itself,
*Cosmetic content. Its already gained through playing the game. Microtransactions are just a shortcut. These items were meant to be a token of grind, not progress. There are other items that are tokens of progress such as prophecy weapons, quest items etc.
imagine if they did it like Halo 3 where if you did a specific task you would unlock that specific piece of gear.
They do. Thats what quests are for.
Have pride in what you wear because of how difficult it was to achieve, not because you got lucky.
This is a grind based game. A combination of progress and luck should be in place, which it is. Progress more or less defines the gameplay ( ie you do progress activities like raids to be powerful) whereas luck in the form of bright engrams defines how you look ingame (ie you get lucky to look good, nothing more). Due to this, high end progress gear actually holds more achievement to the wearer. You respect someone more who is wearing a full raid set with raid shaders and raid emblem rather than someone wearing a full set of that eververse stuff...because they played hard to get stuff that not everyone can get. Be thankful that the luck portion of the grind doesnt have a grip on how powerful you are.
Accept nothing other than total removal of loot boxes and micro-transactions.
Good luck. That is both not feasible and would ultimately end up with the game shittier than before.

        • You do realize that Activision is only supporting Bungie because they're making money. If that stopped or drastically decreased, Destiny could end being cut off entirely. Meaning no more Destiny franchise. And as far as "unlockable DLC" goes, I'm not even sure you know what DLC stands for then.

        • Eververse will go nowhere. Sorry, but you are asking for way more than either Bungie or Activision are willing to give. Time to accept the truth. While I would love to see the Micro-Transactions gone I fear we are not going to see complete removal.

        • Microtransactions sre here to stay. Sorry. If eververse is removed, they will replace it with an even worse system. The problem isnt eververse, it's lack of content for end game activities being locked behind it. Furthermore, since you don't actually play, you don't get an opinion on this. So leave bungie, troll.

            • The entire removal of eververse is not necessary. It should contain emotes, embelms, shaders, and a few other cosmetic options. On the other hand like ghosts, ships, sparrows, armor, and exotic ornaments need and I stress the dire need to be put somewhere in the game, not behind a pay wall. Return with sparrow racing and offer these as winner loot. Have exotic ships locked behind vendors you have to do special things for to achieve.

Lol delusional. Complete removal of Eververse would mean complete removal of events. Say good-bye to SRL, Dawning, and others. You don't have to buy the stuff you can let other people buy it and that funds events. Yes they should tweak it and bring stuff out of Eververse into activites, but complete removal would be idiotic.

              • I can see it now 1 free loot box per account per week 😬, oh and it'll contain shades. If I ever did purchase something, I don't want the percentage chance of it dropping, I want 100%it'll be in that box they need to remove that, make everything cost bright dust and shards, at least, or even get rid of her totally and reward us those items for completing quests.
