The Descendants were old and rusty even in D1, you’re thinking of the Precursors which will still have the sleek white and gold look in D2. Bungie doesn’t seemed to have changed the look of these two groups much like they did with the more present-time Vex models The Fallen have less armor because (if u pay attention to enemy titles, a few dialogue snippets, and a couple scannables) they Fallen are actually extremely weak and low on resources now. They all banded together but are scraping the bottom of the barrel and devoting all resources to recovering old supplies or stealing new supplies. They don’t have enough armor to go around so they’re a lot like how the Exiles were in D1 (threadbare cloth, little armor, struggling for a foothold, undernourished, barely surviving) I believe that one Vex from Venus (the gold one in the tree where Xûr appeared on Nessus) actually had the old D1 look, so maybe it’s supposed to be like only these Vex from Nessus and Io have the new models? There really isn’t an explanation I know, so it’s probably just Bungie reskinning. But I guess if u want to just come up with an answer we can say the Vex either adapted their models or some from a different time popped up (the Vex can probably switch out older forces for newer forces in a short amount of time due to their ease with time travel)

  • They all still have their look... but why do the Descendants STILL look rusty and worn. I knew they looked like that in D1 and it still confuses me. Was the old Destiny story involved or did something happen... I mean when the Taken King came out it made sense why they looked like that, the Taken are a threat of extraordinary proportions... but why still? Does the Darkness need to be extinguished? Do the Taken have to die out? I need to know more...

  • Well the lore to the Descendants says that their chassis have endured for eons even thought they are from a distant future So they are rusty and beaten because their bodies are ancient

  • But more Vex can be made. The Black Garden isn't their birthplace. Nessus runs free with Radiolarian Fluid and I assume Venus or Io could as well. Why not keep their original designs? New Vex are made all the time... why the change? Was their birthplace destroyed? Was there a day when no more Vex were born?

The design change has to be something the Vex thought as advantageous. For example, Vex heads seem to serve as sensors and possibly even assist in transmitting signals to other Vex (see Hobgoblin and Cyclops grimoires) so these new heads may be superior to the previous models. The thicker thighs that u mentioned and other changes probably just serve for strengthening their bodies Vex always adapt and improve If there was ever a day when no more Vex were born it would have to be in every single timeline if we wanted to stop them for good. It hasn’t been discovered how the Vex generate more Mind Fluid (if they even can) or where they were born, but Ghost says there are multiple Gardens so the one one Mars probably wasn’t their literal birthplace. Maybe they come from some place that’s disconnected from time and space and that’s where they put the Black Garden before we killed its Heart, or maybe the Gardens are all fragments of one place we haven’t discovered yet

I thought mind fluid was created through the conversation on other cells. Where the bacteria hijacked a cell like a virus and converted it. This explains what Taking them is a big risk of not done correctly.

We don’t know exactly how it’s created Although the conversion theory u described is the most likely method in which the Vex create more Mind Fluid, especially when u look at the way the Vex cells are changing Asher’s body and producing Mind Fluid
