RNG Needs to Go

While this post may be redundant, and beeen covered by a wide variety of players. I feel the need to share why I despise the RNG loot drop system, and what needs to change to make a better game for everyone. The first issue with the RNG doesn't really become apparent to players till around the endgame and that is the duplicate gear. More often than not at the endgame, every player recieves duplicate items for doing any activity in this game. The worst of it, is the legendary armor sets that every vendor in the entire game seems to reward you with. This is unnecessary and redundant for a variety of reasons mainly because every player by this time should have recieved hundreds of pieces of this gear and is dismantled as fast as they are awarded. (The best fix for this problem is to stop vendors from rewarding these and just leave them for legendary engrams.) The other problem with RNG in Destiny 2 is that it seems to me from personal experience and watching videos of other player rewards is that there is certain gear (weapons or armor) that simply do not drop ever. For me it is the "Crest of Alpha Lupi" I have decoded many exotic engrams to no avail at aquiring this armor piece. Because of how RNG works, (The more items you have from the RNG pool the lower your chances are at aquiring anything new.) players are finding themselves grinding ceaselessly for tokens or engrams to get what they want with little to no success for a majority of players. I have tried desperately to earn the entire armor set from various vendors to only have only one complete armor set to show for it and I have run out of patience to try further. (The simple fix for this issue is to fix the system to guarantee a piece of faction armor for collecting a package and to remove the generic legendary armor that every vendor rewards from their loot pool, or to have vendors sell their armor in exchange for tokens and shards.) The last issue that I have with RNG for Destiny 2 is how it is set up to drag out playtime extensively. From what I read about D2 before it's release was that it would be a game that respects players time. From what I have seen, this is false advertising. Anyone who plays this game objectively with goals will find themselves spending way more time to complete those goals than should be necessary. The Raid for instance, while it takes a a couple of hours for a solid fireteam to complete it, it takes all day for an average fireteam put together from LFG apps. And to make it worse, if you are trying to aquire something specific from the raid, you could be spending months and many many attempts to aquire ONE item. That isn't something a game that respects your time should force you to do. (This can be fixed by the suggested fixes above) So in short, RNG is not the system this game needs nor is it one that anyone wants in this fashion. I would be very delighted to see these changes before season 2 so that I may complete more armor sets from season 1. But it just doesn't seem like I will get what I want out of this game in time, if at all. So Bungie, do yourself and everyone else a favor and perform the "Ritual of Negation" on your RNG system.
