Is the sniper hitscan in Reach?

I was playing Team Fortress 2, and noticed how easier it was at sniping people at that game, even when it was only running at 20 fps and below. In Halo 3, I couldn't touch anyone with the sniper, and my shots always seemed to have missed them by an inch. That's when I realized that in TF2, the guns in the game are hitscan, while Halo 3 has the bullets travel. So I'm asking if the Reach sniper has hitscan,so that I can hit moving targets.

 • Yes. Most UNSC weapons are hitscan, which is a good thing... It's frustrating to have to lead a shot from a Sniper Rifle, even by a little bit.

 •
Posted by: SRQ baller24 it is pretty much hitscan in halo 3, unless you are playing on sandtrap.
Which means it isn't hitscan. But I see what you are trying to say.

 •
Posted by: SilverPoirot It's hitscan in Reach, but it was hitscan in H3 too.
I read somewhere on the H3 forums that the bullets in that game were traveling, which caused most of the lag in multiplayer.

 •
Posted by: Dannalingur Sorry for sounding extremely dumb but, what is "hitscan"? Is it when bullets have no travel time? Like the AR, Magnum, DMR and Sniper Rifle?
to put it simply, yes

 •
Posted by: SilverPoirot It's hitscan in Reach, but it was hitscan in H3 too.
Halo 3 and Halo: CE were NOT hitscan. Halo: Reach is going to be. Halo 2 was also hitscan.

 • I believe the DMR is hitscan, so the Sniper probably is too.
Posted by: LifelessMan Reach uses hit-scan on most weapons. Exceptions are any plasma-based weapons and weapons with travel time (Rockets, Needler, Plasma Launcher and the like).
I forget, does that include the Needle Rifle? I didn't notice if it did.

 • Reach uses hit-scan on most weapons. Exceptions are any plasma-based weapons and weapons with travel time (Rockets, Needler, Plasma Launcher and the like). Everything else is hit-scan with the visual "bullet" trail being just that, visual only.
