Is there any hope?

Destiny 2 is almost at the same amount of daily pvp users they had the end of destiny 1. The million or so veterans, who kept the game alive for the last 3 years seem to be the ones voicing their opinions and posting about abandoning ship. What does this mean for the future? 3 months in and gone from 3.5 million to 800k players? I don't know much about other games, but it wouldn't be far fetched to consider this one of the worst launches from a top tier developer. No one needs my opinion on the state of the game, check the "new" page, you'll find a few hundred. However, I am curious if there are any D1 year 1 players that are satisfied with destiny 2. If you are, please explain how and why. The forum is complaints, Reddit is filled with complaints- hell, Forbes has given our opinions more recognition than bungie has. "We hear you" is different than "we are working to change it" or "there is a plan of action." Had there been an issue regarding players receiving free silver, some kind of solution would be implemented almost immediately. Even the trolls are making serious posts.

  • Im in the same boat as you. Im completely unsatisfied with D2. I joined the destiny community Christmas of 2014 and honestly i loved this game. It was a tough decision for me to stop and quit Destiny. Im upset that such a large game company that were the creators of Halo, an amazing game series, are just not dedicated to this game series. Ill compare them to Epic Games and Fortnite. Epic Games releases a significant update every week. Every week the game will get a new item, cosmetic, etc.. D2 was released 5 months ago and has gotten 2 "major" updates (there may have been another one since i've quit, but idk), and these updates were barely game changing. There were no new game changing items or content that came from these updates. The XP throttling that they did in the beginning of D2 was unacceptable, and what I just heard about them throttling the Faction Rally tokens just makes me furious. They are catering to the player who can only play about three hours a week, and yet the dedicated player who can play about 20 hours a week will plow through this game in about 1-2 days. Companies need to cater to that gamer, so then the lack of content will be very minimal. Try to think of a casual, multiplayer rpg like destiny that was succesful in the past. You can't. It's why games like World of Warcraft, Warframe, and Fortnite are doing amazing. Plus, Fortnite and Warframe are free! (Fortnite pve right now isn't free but will be later in 2018). If we pay 100 dollars for a game (season pass included) we want a dedicated company who will deliver good content. Right now we don't have that.

  • Watch this Old Demo: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gIp7vZuYzoA When Destiny was first being shown off we were promised a Large Shared World Shooter RPG. That was "Ancient Fantasy" + "Hard Science Fiction". That is what it was initially advertised as and what Year 3 D1 was shaping up to be. The problem is that Destiny 2 has taken the franchise into becoming a game that I simply did not want. We got a standard FPS Skill based shooter with PvP set as end-game. It is trying to use the Halo formula to satisfy the competitive shooters. That design choice does not work with Loot based games. You're fighting against human players in the Crucible and you're fighting an army of drones in PvE. What makes PvE fun is being a powerful badass what makes the Crucible fun is the competition and proving your better against a real person with access to the same weapons abilities. They're not the same and should not be balanced as such. It is trying to be a jack of all trades but consequently making it a master of none. Making it a competitive PvP is the opposite of what Destiny was supposed to be and shaping up to be by Year 3. This feels like a slap in the face to the people who stuck around and supported Destiny. Bungie should stop trying to make it Halo when that is a completely different formula. PvP does nto work as a core aspect in Destiny. They took what could have been an amazing RPG and made it a simple shooter. Big middle finger to the fans who made the first game successful. ALSO. Destiny is made by AAA developers, supported by AAA publishers, and is sold as a $60 game. They already have the money and support they need to make a complete product. The fact that it is not a complete game at launch, and is in reality an incomplete foundation that relies on content updates as well as paid DLCs to add things that should have been in the game in the first place, is unacceptable.

    • The game is good, solid base and has lots of potential. The issues come when you hit end game, nothing is that exciting and it's lacking that fatebringer/Ghally moments as in order to try balance the game it's been dumbed down. Unfortunately it's turns out balance is boring and I still think it's mainly pvp's fault, but that's another discussion. Classes have two trees, static rolls is fine as long as there is enough content to keep it fresh, not enough perks or unique guns and most are reskins, mods are a missed opportunity, strike/adventure/lost sector exclusive loot, the list goes on. I'm pretty certain bungie will fix most of this but it will come in paid dlc which is a huge shame.

    • In all seriousness, I've been thinking on it. I've been here since the first week of D1, and I'm neither blown away or disappointed. The game is what it's supposed to be, for me. A place to go shoot some aliens here and there, get some loot, and hang with friends. Sure it has kinks to bang out, but what game doesn't have a few issues right away? I'm simply holding on to hope because I watched how Destiny 1 turned around, and I feel like this could work out well, and turn even faster if done properly. (I also bought the 100$ version, so I'm gonna play this game and get my time in to make my purchase feel worth it.) Anyways, I've already reached a wall, yes. I already have everything I could want in the game, and now I play in bursts. I'll sign in, do all of my challenges on one character, then play something else for awhile. It's helping me avoid burnout to a point, and I'm still enjoying the game for, again, what it is to me as a player. (I consider myself a casual, I'm never jumping on the raid or Trials train, despite my 2300-ish hours on D1.) So yeah, I'm holding onto hope. There are a few more exotics I'm looking for, some new builds to try out, and I'm holding out for both changes and challenges.

    • Destiny 2 is a fun game for short-term casual players. But for many Destiny fans its a let down of major proportions. Mainly because everything in the game is given to you with no or little effort on the players part. There are people running around with full raid gear that never played the raid! or trials for that matter. Everything in D2 is handed to you on a friggin silver platter. No game worth a crap has ever been able to do this. You have to have a struggle in order to keep interest up and keep things progressing. The only thing going for the game right now is the hated RNG. Yes its rigged, for a reason. Can you imagine how boring it would be if you got everything in the first week or two? People have to have a reason to struggle to get what they want and to get better. Without it, life and the gameplay sucks. Wanna fix D2? Increase light level to 350 and make the only way to get it is through the raid or trials. No high level drops from vendors. Maybe some from exotic engrams. Also, Put more weapons in the game, not just reskins. And for gods sake. Get rid of the public event timers. Those abominations kill exploration by letting people just fast travel from one event to the next. Make people have to explore and search out events. As for PVP, just bring back D1 PVP maps and all. I would rather play D1 maps and mechanics than this crap. Lag and all. As for the cosmetic crap.? Nobody gives a crap how the tower is decorated, what shader you have on or if your going to play hockey in the tower. Much less run around picking up candy from a vendor and getting a mask to wear in the tower. This isn't the digital version of DRESS UP BARBIE or BARBIES DREAMHOUSE.

      • D1 player here. I had probably 2400 hrs into d1. I really enjoy d2 a lot. I love the crucible, only thing I think they could change is lower the ttk to make solo play a little more rewarding. I really enjoyed the raid and the nightfall change as well. I think the majority of the complainers are just very entitled and have a gaming addiction. My 2 cents.

        • If you are a D1 player and ok with what has happened with D2 you are a Simpleton... you accept everything the way it is no matter how bad. You are too easily pleased and have the mind of a goldfish. You wouldn’t complain about the 8 ounce filet the waiter brought you even though you ordered a 12oz.

        • You know what would make this game really great? Beating hookers with golf clubs. Now THAT is some funny sh!t right there. Maybe give you an exotic golf club called "Happy Ending" as part of a public patrol or something.
