I really don't know why I'm creating this topic with so many others but I still will because our voices need to be heard

I have been an ardent defender of Destiny since the Beta of Destiny 1. I've lived through all the issues that plagued D1 and still enjoyed it. Even at it's worst times we still had fun as a clan just messing around in the raids and PvP. I was extremely hyped for Destiny 2 and waited (like everyone else) for a game that finally surpassed D1 in every aspect. Watched all the twitch streams and played non stop for the first week or so. Our clan is a tight knit group of people that have played together since nearly the start of D1 so we have a lot of good memories to base our opinion on. D2 is a shell of D1. Power level means nothing, you can reach power level without doing ANY end game activity, PvP is a joke now (subjective I know), and finally the last straw... The prestige raid gives you a f***ing emblem and an ugly shader??? Are you F***ing KIDDING ME???? And the shader looks worse than the normal mode shader. No power level increase, no new weapons with different rolls, and an emblem. I realize that D2 is expected to cater to the more casual player but this is a ridiculous direction to take the game. For those of us that are hard core players there is a satisfaction in finishing something that is very hard and being aptly rewarded for your effort. Instead we get a emblem and an ugly shader. There is a place for casual players to play and hardcore people to play and they both can exist in the same place. But just not in Destiny 2 I suppose. Bungie you screwed up. I'm sure my post will garner no attention from you but due to the HUGE amount of posts saying pretty much the same thing that I am... GET YOUR S*** TOGETHER AND DO IT FAST. You are going to lose your core player base faster than you can imagine if you keep teasing what's coming out next and then it is a total and complete lie. It's truly sad that so many people are going back to Destiny 1 because it was so much better than this. I truly would have waited another year for this game but Activision had you by the Balls so you had to rush it or lose your stock options. So in the process we as a community (that supports you by the way) got screwed more than your precious stock. Thanks for giving us a broken game with no variation in anything.

  • I’ve been seeing A LOT of these “I used to defend Bungie” posts lately. Maybe if you guys spent that time defending other gamers instead of a money grubbing company we might actually have a decent game.

the ONLY reason d2 is this state is because they saw all the money they made in D1 by drip feeding content that was sliced from the original game for maximum profits via DLCs. You honestly think Bungie, and Activision of all people, are going to stop this fad? LOL please. Every single thing - was done on purpose. And every single one of them - was done for the least amount of effort, for the maximum amount of profits. Want to end this? Stop buying Activision/Bungie/EA/etc games. They did the exact same thing with d2 that they did with d1. I don't even know why I thought it would be different this time. I know better. I mean jesus christ we're playing the SAME classes, fighting the SAME enemies, we've been fighting for 3 years now. There is absolutely nothing different about it, other than all the content they removed. This could have been sold as a $40 dlc and people would still be pissed about its laziness. However, why not slap a '2' next to it and sell it as a sequel for maximum price? Boy are we looking dumb.

      • My buddies and I have been playing destiny together since day one of D1. I hope bungie is paying attention to all of us. So many loyal gamers are disappointed and beginning to hate so much about D2. In almost every aspect. Personally I don’t even want to do the raid, ever! I’m not even going to talk about crucible. Iron banner was always my favorite. Not any more. Strikes we can’t even choose one. And the way their system selects them. If we had 10 strikes we might only see the same 4 over and over, and over. I feel like I wasted a lot of money at this point.

Watch this Old Demo: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gIp7vZuYzoA When Destiny was first being shown off we were promised a Large Shared World Shooter RPG. That was "Ancient Fantasy" + "Hard Science Fiction". That is what it was initially advertised as and what Year 3 D1 was shaping up to be. The problem is that Destiny 2 has taken the franchise into becoming a game that I simply did not want. We got a standard FPS Skill based shooter with PvP set as end-game. It is trying to use the Halo formula to satisfy the competitive shooters. That design choice does not work with Loot based games. You're fighting against human players in the Crucible and you're fighting an army of drones in PvE. What makes PvE fun is being a powerful badass what makes the Crucible fun is the competition and proving your better against a real person with access to the same weapons abilities. They're not the same and should not be balanced as such. It is trying to be a jack of all trades but consequently making it a master of none. Making it a competitive PvP is the opposite of what Destiny was supposed to be and shaping up to be by Year 3. This feels like a slap in the face to the people who stuck around and supported Destiny. Bungie should stop trying to make it Halo when that is a completely different formula. PvP does nto work as a core aspect in Destiny. They took what could have been an amazing RPG and made it a simple shooter. Big middle finger to the fans who made the first game successful. ALSO. Destiny is made by AAA developers, supported by AAA publishers, and is sold as a $60 game. They already have the money and support they need to make a complete product. The fact that it is not a complete game at launch, and is in reality an incomplete foundation that relies on content updates as well as paid DLCs to add things that should have been in the game in the first place, is unacceptable. The Dev team should be given more time to work on a quality product worth the $60 price tag.

Even if Bungie doesn't see your post, it will figure into how they respond. When Deej and Cozmo go to the weekly meeting, their report will say "The top 73 trending posts on Bungie.net were negative. The 74th was positive, and the rest of the top 237 were negative. Here's a sample of what they say..." Your post matters even if Bungie doesn't read it. Now, I'm gonna go play The Fractured but Whole.

I posted this elsewhere but I'll post it here. Not because I think you are wrong because I agree with a lot of what you said, and you have legitimate concerns. Join me and look back at this lovely review from 2014: https://www.reddit.com/r/DestinyTheGame/comments/2p0t82/ars_technicas_scathing_review_of_the_dark_below/ It seems a lot of players have forgotten what D1 was actually like, some of the replies in that thread are nearly identical to some of the complaints and frustration we are hearing now. This thread sheds some light on the current situation: https://www.reddit.com/r/DestinyTheGame/comments/77f8kz/in_criticizing_destiny_2_people_need_to_stop/ Destiny 1 by the end of year 3 was looking good, content was good, Quality of Life improvements were good and then now with Destiny 2 a lot of that good stuff wasn't brought over. And while the state of the game at D2 launch was much better than D1 launch, D2 falls short in a LOT of ways to D1 after 3 years of development and updates. What seems to be left out of many discussions is the fact that D1 is different code than D2. It's not a continuation -- it's literally different software developed on the same timeline with different teams and tools. If you actually were around since launch of D1, you would remember the 'shit ton' of improvements made to the game (there's not really a point in my posting every patch note and update here). There's no reason to believe that D2 won't get the same love and attention that made you all fall in love over the years with D1. The resolutions to previous problems in D1 aren't being brought over to D2 because the code is different, the content is different, the game is different. As content is released the issues we are seeing now will hopefully be resolved. And what we are left with in the meantime is players no-lifing the game and complaining there's nothing to do now, or, nothing worth doing at the moment. It's the same story that plagues the history of not only D1 but many other games. We are consuming games at an increasingly rapid pace and it's harder than ever for game companies to keep up. We'll get more content soon and things will start looking better and better. The sky is not falling, the game is not dying, everything is going to be fine ...most likely :) Posted originally here: https://www.bungie.net/en/Forums/Post/236101143?page=0&sort=0&showBanned=0&path=1

                  • It truly is sad isn't it. I still enjoy the game for sure but I have no reason or drive to continue to play. D1 PvP for example was far from perfect (so much lag) however I still had fun and it felt so good to beat those odds and win against red bars, better players, etc. Now I can't solo queue and expect to have fun, of I solo queue (as an absolute last resort) I only do so because nobody on my friends list is currently playing and I expect pain, nothing but pain. I know I don't have to get the weekly challenges done and that I have nothing left to gain from them, but I want to. I do these things knowing that they mean nothing anymore because without have hope that one day we'll get the quality of life changes we had in D1 back, I have hope that we'll get heroic strikes, more loot to cover the fact that everything has a static roll, just... More, you know? D1 encouraged us whether we were casual or hardcore to keep at it, continue playing in the hopes of beating that end game and continue even after that end game as there was always something to work towards. Although the casuals couldn't get all of the end game activities done (especially raids), Bungie brought in the guided games to help and it was and still is a pretty great idea. It may still be faster to go through LFG but Bungie have made an important first step to making the game casual friendly, the only problem is that they've gone too far in that direction for most of our tastes. No more grimoire (lore), scannables are a neat idea but they can't and don't cover as much as we as hardcore players and lore fans would like and the grimoire was also a great way to gauge how long a player has been in the game. Less rewarding end game (see any topic about the lack of loot), boring strikes (after the first time there's simply no point, however cool they are). I could go on but I think everyone gets it at this point and already have their own ideas. PvE and PvP balancing was already an issue in D1 but now it's this same issue as well as just a lack of, everything really... I'm trying to stay positive, as the OP says, most of us in the community still support bungie and so do I, but it's hard to find and focus on the good when there's so much, I wouldn't say bad, but more mediocre than there is good.

                  • I spent 1500 hours on D1, been playing since the alpha. I have 19 hours in D2 and have given up. I love 6v6 pvp and the 4v4 format just isn't as fun. Clash is my favorite mode and the fact that I can't just choose to play clash frustrates me to no end. Now I am just waiting for the DLC to drop so I can log a few more hours playing pve and play battlefield and COD to get my pvp fix. Hopefully D3 will be a better game.

                    • Let me put it another way. I'm 305 on the WL and Hunter with all raid gear, weapons, and every single weapon in the game (most of which are duplicates since there are no rolls on any weapons) and I've nothing to do. I do the NF but guess what I get... a F***ing aura above my head. I do the raid and guess what I get... the same weapons / armor whether I do prestige or normal. Flashpoints??? Give me a break. PvP??? Not being able to choose what game mode you'd like to play??? So I litterally have nothing to do in the game at the moment. I've got every single thing I can get out of this game within a month. So what is there to go for? What is there to do since there is no end game and no weapon / armor rolls? Just sit around the tower and show off my raid / pvp gear and the aura above my head??? F*** that S***!
