Its annoying to read people say that this was a "misunderstanding" of information on the players side. Can someone point me to the official statement from Bungie saying that players will be instantly banned for use of overlay or certain recording software that is 100% safe and non malicious?? The only article that I have found on the matter (https://www.bungie.net/en/Help/Article/46101) says that the game client will "resist" 3rd party software's attempts to inject code into the client and it will not be compatible. No where does it say the player will be instantly banned when using aforementioned software. This is not a misunderstanding, this is a problem on Bungie's side for either a lack of communication or a bug in their anti cheat system. Not to mention their lack of customer support which is utterly pathetic.

The bans were caused by Bungie/Blizzard's super sensitive anti-cheat systems and was an issue in the Beta. That was an issue discovered; I'd hope that Bungie and Blizzard would have fixed this before release. It shouldn't ban you, simply close the program and let you know that there's something you're running that's conflicting with the security measures in place. An insta-ban is quite a bug in the system. Edit: Not quite sure why I was downvoted for agreeing that an insta-ban is too much and I'm hoping they fixed it. I'm guessing whoever downvoted me hopes that everyone gets banned? No clue.

  • By "misunderstanding" I meant disabling absolutely every software in your computer prior to playing Destiny 2. I 100& agree with you and the worst thing that makes my blood boil is THIS statement: Q: Where can a player go to dispute a Ban or Restriction applied to their Destiny account? A: There are no options to dispute or overturn account restrictions or bans. Permanent account bans are only implemented with rigorous checking to ensure that the innocent are not punished alongside the guilty. Bungie does not comment on or discuss individual account restriction or bans.

  • Ok, point me to the rule that says you will be banned for using 3rd-party software.

  • I wasn't wasn't talking to you. I was talking to the guy complaining about how Bungie doesn't despute bans. As for PC players. I'm hoping it's flop. That the bans will continue. More than likely they won't, since it didn't happen with Console players. My understanding from that whole fiasco is that Bungie doesn't want any cheaters so they threw everyone under a big net and said no "3rd party software" period.

Specifically? https://www.bungie.net/en/Help/Article/11929 Do note that using third-party software isn't against the rules. Using third-party software that makes changes to the game software is against the rules.
... Q: What behavior can lead Bungie to apply restrictions or bans to a player or device? A: Bungie regards the following behavior to be in breach of the license agreement that governs Destiny, and therefore potentially subject to access restrictions. This behavior includes, but is not limited to: Connecting to the Destiny game service with any of the following: Modified game software ... Using an external program to modify the operation of the Destiny game software, such as: ... User mode or kernel debuggers Graphics hacks ...
Using third-party software that injects code into the game software is literally using modified game software. That is kind of the definition of modifying it. The only ones I somewhat take issue with are the ones that capture the game device video for streaming and the like. It's just redirecting the video signal through a program then to your monitor, so it's not really modifying the game directly as far as I know, but apparently, it does something that does so, otherwise it wouldn't be an issue, which sucks for people that want to stream and rely on the gamecapture instead of having to set up screen capture or window capture and cropping out bits and pieces.
