Equipped a higher level item on a lower level character Help

So, I had this Idea. If I go into my collections and get a level 16 exotic, and infuse it with my level 4 exotic, I will get a boost in the strength. So I did it (While having no other armor pieces in my character storage, ) and it worked. Except that the level on the exotic raised. Now I had equipped a level 16 exotic with 2015 damage. Keep in mind, I was level 11 when this happened. I also uploaded a short capture (Only watch the first few seconds of the clip, while I am in my inventory.) And, while the exotic was equipped, the system didn't consider it equipped. It read my light level as if I was not wearing an armor piece at all. I just wanted to let Bungie know so this can be fixed.

  • You basically tried to cheat the system, and the system won. There is nothing to fix. This isn't a bug. This is you trying to cheat the system, and getting smacked by it.

  • Lol I did the same thing with my energy weapon because I wanted to give myself a challenge because I logically figured that I wouldn’t be allowed to use a weapon with a power level that is appropriate for a level 20 while I’m level 12

Not an error. As you can clearly see on the exotic, there is a red warning label that says "requires level 16". Since you aren't level 16, that piece of gear doesn't count towards your power level. Nothing for Bungie to fix either. Edit...this was the same concept in D1 with people who had an exotic faction class item equipped but changed faction. The item stayed equipped, but the light/perks were null.

    • No there is nothing to fix, if it says it requires level 16 then it requires level 16.
