Minimally, maybe, it depends if there is a need or not. To the extent they are now? No. The government needs to get out of private business.

Do you think the greedy insurance companies will magically start charging less once they're virtually unregulated?

Edit: also, before the aca I paid $440 a year for basic health insurance, after the aca, and I mean the very next year, my premiums, for worse coverage, skyrocketed to $2,400 a year. While, yes, premiums do rise, a change that drastic was, in fact, a direct result of the aca mandate.
