Engram Stash, Bungie's Terrific Solution to a Problem I've Been Outlining for Months

In Destiny 2, it has been revealed through screenshots in review copies that we will have a small slot for engrams in our inventory screen, and hopefully our gear screen will no longer be affected by the need for empty slots. For months, I've been saying that having to pick up engrams now that we have 6 gun types in each slots would be incredibly inconvenient. Think about all the different weapon types you'll want to carry, after all. For energy weapons alone you would likely want to have a short range, medium range, and long range legendary for each energy type. That's 9 out of the 10 slots already, and only one space for exotics. If you wanted to, you could replace some of those options with exotics, but you'd have to balance that with guns of other ranges in your other slots, and could only use one exotic at a time. And if you still wanted to have space to pick up a lot of engrams, you'd have trouble with these ranged guns. But Bungie's solution is quite smart. A little bit of extra storage space for engrams specifically will take a load off of those gear parts. There are only 10 slots in that section, unfortunately, but one would imagine that any extra engrams would be sent to the post master. (I've been saying for a while that engrams should just be sent straight to the cryptarch, but players would still have to shift their gear around at the vault in order to make space for the weapons and armor they receive. They'll likely still have to, but it should now be easier to see which ones you have to make space for by checking your inventory screen). It is also possible that these slots will be reserved for exotic and legendary engrams only, as common and rare engrams have decoded on the spot in the game we've been viewing so far. This may simply be a test build, and all engrams dropped will go to the engram slot in the full game, but the ability to carry 10 pieces of gear for each gear type is now a possibility. Sure, you may not need 10 different pieces of armor, but I carry at least 7 items in all of my Destiny 1 weapon slots, and that's with a split between special and heavy weapons (which will be combined) and without 6 weapon types for each slot. Hopefully this new system will cover player requirements for storage between visits to the farm, but thankfully, without the need to go to orbit, that in itself will also be much more convenient for players. I'm sure they've playtested and figured out the best balance they can between how often we are required to visit the farm and how much data they can allow us for storage space. This is just another thing that makes me think Destiny 2 will follow more of the vision Bungie originally wanted for the Destiny series, before it was mauled by development hell. They've been working hard on this game for a while, and you can see the progress they've made already.
