It's just that finding a living person who can wield Light is very uncommon since far more humans have died than are alive. Judging from the Shin Malphur pairing and the way our Ghost investigated another possible Guardian, it seems that a Ghost can pair with a second Guardian if given permission by the person. During the Golden Age Exos were developed to give humans both immortality and to allow them to more safely traverse Vex territory. When the Collapse hit the Exos were mass produced and recruited because they were better for fighting, and Cayde has even left a journal entry for us speaking of how he became an Exo. Exo minds are human and work exactly the same, exempt because of the machine bodies their memories can leave better imprints so an Exo who is a Guardian or that has had a mind wipe can remember fragments of their past. Exos naturally have personality and emotion. Frames however, are machines. But over the years they can develop "personality quirks" because of their adaptive abilities. They have human sexual desires but clearly no ability to bear children. Guardians can most likely reproduce if of the proper age, but I can almost guarantee you that a female Guardian bearing a child would have to go those 9 months without dying, because a Ghost can only restore te bodies of their own Guardian. So yes to having babies, just don't die while pregnant. Beings that were "touched by Light" were simply close to the Traveler, which has far more Light within and exuding off of it than any other living thing. So people "touched with Light" just had a little extra Light shared with them. Guardians have more Light than the average organism, and the ability to use it. If a Guardian does in a place heavy with Darkness (a Darkness Zone), it grows harder to revive them, and if they end up dead or even just in that area long enough without a recharge, their Light can be sniffed out completely so that they can't be revived again. Eris lost her Light in the Hellmouth, and Eriana-3 burnt out before her death down there as well, Jaren Ward was drained of his Light by Thorn and his Ghost couldn't revive him, and Dredgen Yor gave up his Light so his Ghost could no longer revive him. Just like other humans and other sentient creatures, they naturally have Light within them. There's only one of most of the exotics, but a few like Surps Regime were made in a factory line with multiple copies produced. [/quote] A Guardian will be permanently dead if their Ghost dies or if they die in a place of Darkness and aren't revived soon enough after. In areas thick with Darkness, a Ghost can revive their Guardian as long as another Guardian is there to lend some Light to help.
