PVE Feels even more underpowered now

Here are my main thoughts on the game right now (PVE Only) Enemies are basically bullet sponges. You have to reload after almost every kill of ONE enemy. Special (Green) and Heavy (Purple) ammo drop rates are abysmal. Loot RNG is still horrible. Also could you please allow players to loot the crate instead of randomly throwing stuff in the inventory? Damage taken vs Damage dealt seems to be heavily unbalanced as enemies can kill you with a couple of hits while you have to waste an entire clip on a single target. Shield regeneration rates are very slow as well. Hunters are basically useless now as they do not offer much in a FireTeam setting compared to Titans (shield and warlocks with either healing or damage aura). As it is I think that a lot of hunters will have a tough time getting into random RAID or Fireteam groups due to this. The weapon system is still very accurate though it seems a tad slower than Destiny 1. Also, please do not continue making the same mistake other MMOs did regarding PVE and PVP. These are two very distinct game modes that should have separate builds and gear. Rebalancing a weapon because it is too powerful for PVP basically undermines the use of the same weapon for PVE. It creates a balance issue that you will never be able to resolve unless you create separate loot tables and gear for the two game modes. Loot that drops in PVP should be different than the ones that drops for PVE.

  • ''Power'' weapons are weak, 8 shots for linear FR, but two to kill a legionary.

    • Yeah I think with the changes to make PvP better, PvE took a huge hit, It made PvE super bland and super boring at times waiting around for abilities and supers too often. From what I've read the Destiny team addressed the 3 main issues, weapon damage, super recharges and something else I forget. We're kind of forced to reserve judgement until the game comes out so I'll see what other people say before I purchase the game. I played quite a bit of PvE in D1 because I enjoyed the thrill of spamming grenades, supers, and gunning down hundreds of enemies solo with heavy weapons and awesome exotics. Well after experiencing the beta I just felt so so weak and spent like 80% of my time hiding. It wasn't very satisfying so I'll look forward to the changes and the new feel when the game comes out.

      • This is sadly true. I see a brilliant game buried in the very flawed beta I've been playing these past few days. However, as long as PvE and PvP are locked together the way they are, Destiny 2 will never fulfill the potential I see in it. It will remain what it is now, a gorgeous but essentially mediocre game, the equivalent of a brightly wrapped Christmas gift holding six pairs of socks. If Bungie can't manage that, they should at least try to make the game play to its strengths, instead of its perceived weaknesses. Here's a thought, for instance... yes, people were using specials and heavies and abilities to slaughter each other in D1... but was that really so bad? If players wanted to kill each other with primaries, there were a crapload of other games offering the opportunity. We have some awesome new space magic powers at our disposal... why not let us enjoy them?

        • The worst thing is ability recharge. If Bungie reduced grenade and Super recharge time by about 40%, the game would be transformed dramatically.

Between playing Destiny and Destiny 2 right after, the only difference I felt was that escaping from enemy fire is a little more difficult. Aside from that everything feels the same. Of course Hunters are sadly trash tier.

        • Hunters are have been rendered so useless that people have been dropping the strike and leaving them behind. Two runs yesterday while trying to start the strike over brought my fireteam into two boss fights were the only character there was a hunter who had been at the strike for over 50 minutes when the timer concluded. For three character types that are to supposed to be soundly balanced and cooperate together it is terrible that people are just abandoning the paper Hunters to do their strike elsewhere. Also agreed that PvP weapons should be for PvP and PvE loot should only be for PvE, trying to meld all weapons together into one playing field brings a check and balance system where one weapon type suffers entirely because it is too much in PvP. PvE exclusive players lose some of their favorite weapons because of exploits and imbalances in PvP. Separate the stats, fix the RNG(again). If you want to have loot work in PvE and PvP, give them different stats varying the play mode. Don't make them entirely useless in PvE because in PvP they were too much to handle.

        • Not a Hunter player, but it's really sad that they just don't seem to have a niche anymore. At the very least, they need to get their stealth ability back, but an ability that synergizes with the team the way the Warlock Puddle does with the Titan wall would be fantastic.
