Let's also not forget the original E3 presentation of D1. That had guardians using two primary weapons... but that changed going up to the beta and then the launch. Now they decide to go back to that system... that is actually a step backwards.

 • Are you talking about the E3 presentation that people have spent 3 years saying is the game we should have gotten? And now we apparently have it (I never saw that presentation myself) but now you don't want it?

 • Yea, people wanted the open space, cool spawning, and different cool features that had to be cut for... some reasons.
seriously though, they should've kept the ship spawn feature in patrol instead of just phasing into reality. It would've been SOOOO much better.
Show me one person who said that they wished that "the weapon system should've been the one in the E3 presentations?" It's not the part that most people referenced towards when concerning that E3.

 • Show you by linking a post? I'm not going to the trouble. But yes, I've read enough to remember it where many people over three years have said how cool an idea it was that originally you could equip a hand cannon for your backup weapon. It's not a step backwards at all from my point of view. Some engagements call for a longer range scout or pulse rifle, then for room clearing an auto rifle is the better choice. Or even two different autos with different scopes mounted, one for long range and one for CQB if that's your preference. I like being able to switch off without having to stop and go to my menu. Sure, it will call for more coordination between members of a fireteam. I can see pairing up 2 snipers, 2 rocket or grenade launchers, and 2 shotguns or fusion rifles and everyone playing their parts, having moments to shine. That suits me. I'm not a great sniper but I'm terrific with a shotgun, so I would run add control and cover the snipers during such an encounter. That's my power weapon of choice. And raid encounters will be geared for just such teams. Not a step backwards, a step in a different direction. I too thought the ship spawning thing sounds cool as described, but the "some reason" is doubtless that the graphics on the last gen systems couldn't handle it, and there was a decision to prioritize other things in D2 versus a cool spawning system.
