Is there enough difference between primary weapons that it makes it worth while to carry 2?

I'll start by saying I straight up dislike this new weapon system but it's kind of hard to judge how it will impact the gameplay just from the beta. I respect everyone's opinion on the matter and I'd like to hear everyone's take on it, specifically just the new weapon system in regards to PVE. From what I've been able to play so far I felt it actually had quite a big impact on the way that I play and how much enjoyment I was able to get out of the different activities. As it stands now I've really been put off investing any time into D2 and i'm definitely going to wait until after the release before I consider getting it again. I just don't see enough variety in the primary weapon types and i'm not talking about how many guns are in the game.. I'm talking about the range/damage and feel of the weapons. I didn't feel at any point during the many times I did the strike that I needed to pull out my elemental weapon to take on a specific enemy and when I did it didn't feel like I was doing that much more damage. I felt like the damage boost it gave wasn't worth the time it took to switch to another weapon. Then there's the weapon types, I tried them all and there wasn't many situations where I thought I should of picked something else. To me I felt very restricted in my play style, I never felt like I could be effective at extremely long range or extremely close range. The difference in the weapons to me was really only a few meters which made the overall experience a bit dull. So is there really any point in having two primary weapon's? Honestly I found it incredibly annoying just constantly wishing I could carry something more effective in that secondary slot. I read that the whole power ammo situation will be fixed for PVE in the finished game but I don't think it will be enough to really add that variety to the overall gun play. I really feel like we're doing the same job as we where in Destiny 1 but we just don't have the right tools to do it anymore. I think we're going to become too dependent on power ammo and supers to really change how we play and how we can approach different situations. Like in D 1 when we ran a bunch of strikes back to back to get that sweet loot, we could mix it up a fair bit. With this new system I cant help but feel that 90% of the time i'm going to be unloading bullets into enemy's with a scout, pulse or auto rifle.. That's going to get boring quick. What do you guys think? I'd like to hear why people like the new weapons system, i'd like a reason to not hate the fact that when I switch to a secondary weapon i'm switching to another primary instead of a special weapon.
