Personally, I don't like the change at all. Take the Eyasluna for example. Grade A crucible gun, right? Slap on a few range perks, Litc if you like that, a reload perk like outlaw, or even explosive rounds, and you're golden. Great PvP gun. However, it is also one of the best PvE hand cannons in the game. Slap on the outlaw again, but now have some ammo perks like triple tap and/or mulligan (it helps more than you think, way more than on a sniper). Or you can try to get way better stability perks because range isn't going to be 'that much' of an issue in the raid because DPS is with the sniper anyway. My personal favorite for PvE is a Eyasluna with Braced Frame, Triple tap, and Mulligan OR outlaw. That ensures ample rounds all the time, fastest firing capability, and a great reload. -- Point is this. With the current system, I can dedicate which roll I want to go for. A PvE build or a PvP build. Keep in mind that there are even several nice PvE builds depending on what you fancy. So... with D2. Now there's only one build.... instead of three or four that I could've liked. And then, on top of that, I have to see which side, PvE or PvP, the gun is 'built' for. I don't even get to build my own gun... Bungie builds it for me and if I don't like it then I don't get a choice. That's much less variety for a gun that can be all around good depending on the perks you get. Now, it's a stagnant gun that 'might' be good for one realm of D2 or the other. -- Now, talking about variety between the guns themselves and not rolls on one specific gun. It's simple. The base stats on the gun matter WAY MORE than the perks a gun gets. I don't care what perks you got on 'The next big thing' shotgun or what perks you got on ANY fast firing hand cannon, they suck and will always suck. Bungie needs to balance their weapons better, not relegate their perks to 'set pieces' that most likely are built to suck in the first place because they might be 'too good'. If you only build one or two or three 'good shotguns' guess what, of course those will be the only ones used.
