Posted by: scotsoe They also look like they were just duct-taped onto the armor, instead of fully integrated...
When you're in a huge battle under constant attack, you want a strong material. Duct tape is top-of-the-line UNSC equipment. It's the obvious choice. OT: I did actually notice this in the beta, I can only hope that some other armours conform to the shoulders a bit more [Edited on 07.16.2010 12:23 PM PDT]
Posted by: AwesomeA1K it still is just weird the shoulder pads don't actually cover the shoulders >_>
There is a reason for that. Covering the shoulders sharply reduces mobility. It is unnecessary when the armor is made of tons of metal. And the SPARTAN needs that mobility.
-
I have figured it out. Bungie's art team have a 1980's fetish and think big shoulder pads are the in thing :|
-
This is just a little something that wasn't bad for the game or anything but just seemed weird like in the Deja View video how they didn't have the default shoulder pads since they had since Halo 2, and it still is just weird the shoulder pads don't actually cover the shoulders >_>
-
i just think they should FORM with the armor better, like THESE DO
Posted by: syco94 It;'s not a pad, it's a pauldron. Secondly. Do they cover the shoulders? (couldn't be bothered to look. too hard to click with laptop mouse pad thing)
actually a pauldron overs the top of the shoulder area

after making the halo 3 reacon armor in reality for my Holowe'en costume last year i learned one thing... i couldnt put my arms up with out the shoulder pads stoping me or I would break them. I kind of like what bungie did with their Reach Armor because when I do make a real life set i can actually move my arms and throw a paintball grenade with out restrictions.
-
Ya that's kinda weird...

Kat is a woman. Enough said.
-
If you look at halo 3 the pads are not on the shoulders either. In fact Kats robotic arms shoulder pad is on the shoulder
-
What would you call them then? Honestly makes no difference.
-
The only thing I don't like about them is that they just look loosely attached, not firmly on. They look like they're just a last minute addition.
-
Yeah, they definitely seem more like some type of spaulder or pauldron to me.
-
That's one armor perm. Also, she has a robbotic arm, does it really need to be on the shoulder?
-
I'm just wondering why the basic shoulder stays on no matter what shoulder you have on, or at least that's what it seems.
-
DAH! They're bicept pads, didn't you get the memo?

More examples?
