Actually one of the main theories was that if xbox went digital only it would have ended up reducing game prices for xbox. However this would happen over time (stupid move one), and they didnt bother trying to announce this as a potential benefit (stupid move two). Even for PC digital games were not immediately cheaper, it took some time, now why xbox would have done at least a statement that game prices would be going down over a certain amount of time or anything like that probably comes down to stupidity and of course some greed. But the idea kind of is that if something moves to only digital it gradually goes down in price, this is actually seen on the switch right now, some games are digital only and they are at a cheaper price then the physical games, and the reason for this has been stated by the developers as them cutting out manufacturing costs because cartridges are expensive. Though this is just a theory it is at least based off of general history of video games so it is more solid then most. It is at the very least something that xbox should have announced with their digital only idea, which would have at least made people consider it.
