Destiny2 or Destiny 1.5 .... lets see which is a more valid title. - It's not continuing a main story arc from the previous game. - Everyone is praising how it plays the same (good since gameplay was solid/bad because i still can't find any signs of a sequel). - New subclasses/gun types/player hub, nope we previously got that in a DLC. - New playable areas/pvp modes, nope we previously got that in a DLC. - Reworked systems/cutscene increase (promise of a revolutionary storytelling change), nope we previously got that in a $40 DLC. Remember it doesn't matter what anyone says (including Bungie with their bs titles). If you believe you will enjoy it then more power to you. Lets not BS ourselves here though, this is called a sequel for all the wrong reasons. And PvP became 4v4 ..... and skill trees got dumped down into near retarded territories. Won't be a bad game, but still wrapped in a whole lot of BS.

  • I don't think you understand how a sequel works. Halo 1-3 Jak and daxter Ratchet and clank CoD Battlefield Original Battlefront You look at every single one of these and what do you see between each game? Slight graphical upgrades. In the case of the older games, the jumps were larger due to gaming tech still developing and evolving. Few new mechanics/guns. In the case of Halo, dual wielding introduced, then removed eventually. New gun types. Sword. Vehicles. New enemy classes in existing enemy factions. Brutes. Engineers. See my point? New engines. I can keep going if need be

You dont need to play the game to know if its gonna be trash? My god you're the soul of arrogance, for good measure i cant take anything you say seriously until the game is out and i've played it to see whether you are right or not

Track record of three mediocre years plus backwards PvP makes me content with dodging this one. Who said you even need to listen to anything i say or take it seriously. Sincerely i hope YOU enjoy it.

Wasn't expecting anything in specific. However, more of the same is far from impressive to me, those who left and skeptical potential players who decided to avoid the franchise like the plague. It's only called a sequel for Marketing purposes (reverse the decreasing interest). NPC's in playable areas, addition of maps/in game clan system are laughable selling points to say the least.

  • So if you didn't know what you were expecting, how was Bungie supposed to know? The game is a sequel....and is readily apparent that it is to those of us who have played this game over the last 3 years. It is building upon the many things (especially on the PVE side) that Destiny 1 did right and well. Its revisiting (and in most cases redesigning) the things that the first game got wrong. With the eye towards giving us the game that (in a perfect world) Destiny 1 should have been. But if you didn't like Destiny 1. Odds are you are not going to like Destiny 2. Not every game is for everybody.

To the first part. Their job is not to know precisely what anyone wants. It's to have an original creative vision that demands attention for it's quality (matter of talent). In any case, you are right. Chances are i/those who left/those avoiding Destiny won't like Destiny2. Still not a real sequel though. Btw what you call "right and well" in the first game is mediocre as -blam!- to many others.

How would you know if they do or if they don't, if you left the game? Since you probably don't know enough about the Lore of the first game to really even understand what it is you're looking at?j George Lucas didn't throw out everything from Star Wars when he made The Empire Strikes Back. Everyone in the audience understood the movie was a continuation of what he started with Star Wars. I have to smh at the number of people who don't seem to understand (or accept) that this is what a sequel is. Though I have to tip the poster last week that was "man" enough to admit that he hadn't fully understood what an "expansion" was in video gaming terms. ...and Destiny 2 is NOT an expansion or "DLC". For some reason you seem to think that you were supposed to get some sort of complete "re-imagining/re-boot" of the entire franchise. Which is so unreasonable that its almost laughable.

You're assuming too many things. I did follow the lore of the first game and SOME of it was good, but mostly rubbish (definitely no DS). So this plus the easy PVE plus the shockingly small amount of content for this type of game made me focus almost entirely on PvP. And don't you dare bring up Starwars in this discussion. As for it being a sequel, name me one aspect other than it being called Destiny2 that you didn't previously get in a DLC ??

Not every game is for everybody. The point isn't that the game isn't a legitimate sequel. The point is that you just didn't like the first game...and-so-it-comes-as-little-surprise that you don't like the sequel. If that's the case....just don't buy the game. Go play something else...and stop pissing in the punchbowl. I'll give you the biggest reason why Destiny 2 isn't "DLC". YOU CAN'T RUN THE SECOND GAME WITH THE ASSETS OF THE FIRST GAME. That's what an "Expansion" is. "The Lord of Destruction" was an expansion to Blizzard's "Diablo 2". Which meant you could not PLAY LoD unless you already had Diablo 2 loaded on your PC. Likewise "Reaper of Souls" was an expansion of "Diablo 3". Which similarly meant that you couldn't play RoS unless you already had Diablo 3. Not only do you not NEED Destiny 1 to play Destiny 2..... Destiny 1's game engine would have an absolute nervous BREAKDOWN trying to replicate what is going on in Destiny 2. ...and if you don't realize that, then you don't understand what it is you're looking at.

Let me ask you one more time and please answer the question in a serious manner. At least so i can take it seriously. Its the same -blam!-ing game on a reworked/new engine. The Diablo series had many refinements/additions/reworks including a crazy visual gap between installments. Engine differences don't make a sequel. EVIDENT reasons behind the need for an engine change might and we haven't seen a single significant need for it (PvP went backwards even). So again, name me ONE aspect of this game that you didn't previously get in a DLC ?? And no, you were shaking your head everytime someone questioned the "legitimacy" of the sequel.

No its not. First off. Blizzard----and I love them to death----ABUSES the word "sequel." Diablo 2 was not a sequel to Diablo 1. It was a complete reimagining of the game. Same with the move from Diablo 2 to Diablo 3. That was also a complete reimagining of the game. In fact you could argue it was a complete REBOOTING of the franchise since it was nearly 10 years between Diablo 2 and Diablo 3. The move from Halo: CE to Halo 2 is a sequel. The move from Titanfall to Titanfall 2 is a sequel. In both of those franchises, the move from one interation of the game is A CONTINUATION OF THE STORY (and universe) created by the previous game. In NEITHER case did Bungie or Respawn throw out what worked in the previous game...and completely REDESIGN the game to fundamentally ALTER the experience of playing the game. Whereas in Diablo 1....everyone played the same hero (like in Halo). Whereas Diablo 2 threw all that out and introduced character classes. While Diablo 3 threw out ALL the classes in Diablo 2 and introduced completely new ones. Lets see....What am I getting that wasn't in DLC. 1. A game engine that fully leverages the power of my PS4 Pro.... 2. Completely re-tooled subclasses. 3. FOUR new "planets" to explore (The Taken King...at $40 gave us only ONE). 4. New enemy types within the recognized races in the game. As well as old enemies with new abilities. 5. A more aggressive and life-like enemy AI. 6. A completely redesigned weapon system and completely redesigned Crucilbe. 7. Entirely new in-game activities in PVE: Sidequests (Adventures) and Dungeon's (Patrol) 8. What will likely be a more truly open-world play experience. 9. A play space that is HUGE and much more dynamic and interactive (the drill blades in the strike was a stroke of genius) , as well as much more interesting to play in the than the Hamster-tunnels of the first game. 10. A new raid. 11. New strikes. 12. A new in-game LFG that will reduce the pain and hassle of finding people to do end-game activities with. 13. What will probably be completely redesigned vehicles (the tank). Need I go on, or have I sufficiently made my point?

So Engine/any trace of a need for it aside (even performance wise/same frame rate even). And its not a continuation of the story. All these points you previously had in the form of DLC's and a tank. You can go on if you want hehehe and make sure you keep using terms like "completely" even though we previously had "completely" new subclasses in TTK. Are you serious right now ??

  • smh. I'm deadly serious.....and also realizing that I'm talking to someone who genuinely doesn't understand the concept of a "sequel".

  • Hehe. Yes. If I had sat you down in the theater in 1981 to see "The Empire Strikes Back " or in 2003 to see "The Matrix: Reloaded"....odds are you would have leveled the same "criticisms". Because in neither case, did George Lucas or the Wachowski Brothers THROW OUT the elements of the film universes they created, and start all over. They simply took us into the next chapter of their respective stories. A point that seems to be genuinely lost on you.

First you got to capture the minds with something original buddy. And don't -blam!- up the delivery to fix it later for $40. Then we can talk about how much you want to release/throw it away or not. Again with the blasphemous SW comparison sigh
