Problem is different people want destiny to be different. So it wont please all. D2 has taken my biggest problem with destiny and made it worse lol. There looks to be basically no customization to builds this time around. All destiny really needed was depth to character customization. Giving us the ability to make fun unique builds. I'm still looking forward to D2 but I've came to terms destiny will never reach it's potential. Or at least my vision of what that is.

  • Ding. You have pve players who want it to become a pure RPG and less of a shooter. You have pvp players who want the RPG elements to go away and it to become a pure competitive shooter. You have all sorts of people with their own ideas on how to blend the two. Bungie tried to please everyone in the first game...and failed. Now the are deciding on a clear vision of what they want thegame to be...and those with different ideas are unhappy. But when you try to please everyone you usually wind up not pleasing anyone.

  • Yep. Said for a long time it's a Jack of all trades. Although I still don't think they know what the hell destiny is. Its design is taken straight from every mmorpg ever. yet give us virtuality no real customization to our characters build. Its pvp is competitive in it's set up, yet in play style is heavily focused on abilities that frankly make getting kills easy. I love it but dam does it get frustrating.

  • I think they understand what it is. The "problem" (as I've stated in other threads) is that the game is dragging around the specter of "Halo". So you have an MMO/RPG/ loot-based RPG..that is dragging around what is trying to be a competitive shooter on the PVP side. ...and most of Destiny 1s problems since The Taken King have been the result of trying to take that RPG, and force its gear/loot system to play like tournament Halo on the PVP side. I don't agree with the changes on the PVP side....in fact, I suspect that I won't be playing much PVP in Destiny 2. But the changes to the gear system are the ones that needed to be made in order to drastically reduce the impact of PVP on the PVE experience. Because they now have a gear system that doesn't require so much balancing. So every weapon or ability that is fun to play with in PVE (hopefully) won't wind up getting nerfed into the ground (any more) for the sake of PVP.

  • Well from what we've seen so far, we could very well get better customisation - very little has actually been revealed. For all we know, we could get at the least better cosmetic customisation... and with a much wider variety of weapons available now, alongside essentially having two slots where we can put the same weapon type in each, I think we have somewhat greater customisation... despite our previously secondary weapons (shotguns and snipers) now becoming heavies...

There's enough on youtube by people that have played it. Everyone one I've watched talk about how much they've simplified the classes. You now pick a perk set, Instead of picking the individual perks you want and making your build. Now you pick the class and pick from the 3 predetermined set of perks. Crap! I highly doubt they are going to simplify this then give us gear set bonuses or something. And don't start me on the weapons they basically just gave up on balancing the game.

  • The balancing was never going to work without breaking the game completely.

  • I understand why they've done it. That doesn't mean I've to be thankful all my favourite weapons are now heavy because it balances pvp.

  • Ah yeah I know about that and that does seem like an... interesting choice... personally I do prefer choosing each perk and creating my build myself by mixing and matching but we'll see, I'll try it out and I'll probably still enjoy it. As for weapons, why do you think that they've given up on balancing? For pvp standards I'd actually say it actually kinda makes it fairer... considering snipers and shotguns when used appropriately are OHKs, it seems fairer somewhat to move them in with the other weapons that have the same effect... But how do you see it?

That's my problem see lol As a player that only really plays destinys pve. The fact my favourite weapons are now heavies, well because pvp will be better. It just leaves a bad taste in the mouth. For me they just couldn't find another way to keep people happy while not nerfing specials to oblivion. It is what it is, but I don't like it lol. I'm sure I will still enjoy D2. It's just taking such a different direction to what I was hoping for.

  • Ah yeah that's fairy nuff =p As much as it's taking different turns than perhaps I was expecting and of course catering to the pvp players, I'm still hopeful it'll be great. Though I'm somewhat certain I'm going to enjoy it anyway. Maybe even the pvp... In any case, I'll play the beta and make more of a decision as to how much I like it. As if I'm gonna change my mind... I pretty much know I'll like it...
