Seriously what do people see in this game that I'm not seeing, I watch trailers and youtube reviews and gameplay of it, people say it's excellent in every way, but I'm not seeing that, it all looks mediocre to me, and doesn't make me feel like I need to purchase the game, the only thing that made my eyes go wide, is when the chick exploded and had no clothes on, that's about it, anyone else in the same boat,
And it's the same with scale bound, I wasn't impressed with what I saw, people complained by the thousands about its cancellation, to me it wasn't a loss, I wasn't going to purchase it anyway

All I know is I played the demo all the way through and felt like I wanted to keep going. Most demos I just get a little taste of and shut it off. It might not be as interesting to just watch but playing it was great.
-
Ok cool. Maybe you should download the demo and play it for yourself. Actually have an informed opinion on the game before you decide whether you like it or not. You ever watched somebody play Mario party? It's -blam!-ing boring as shit, actually playing the game however is not.
-
Yep. Typical JRPG, IMO. The only difference seems to be that people think the story is somehow good, but I think that if a game uses plot to justify why the main character is a half-naked anime girl it isn't very good, because that's totally unnecessary.
-
I thought it was pretty good. Combat is fun, has interesting characters and story. I liked the background music too. If your into hack n slash games you'd enjoy it.
-
So you haven't played the game at all? No wonder this post is at 0 upvotes. The worst way to play a game is by watching someone else play it. Its a video game, not a TV show.

Think about the butts, man.

Edited by FrostD: 6/2/2017 9:27:38 PMI really really liked Nier but had a few problems with it. First was the disparity in difficulty. I knew I wasn't going to do One hit Kill mode so went for Hard. Thee most annoying thing in the entirety of gaming was getting kicked all the way back to the Title Screen after spending 10min reaching the mission boss only to be one-shot by him. Yah I get the metaphors and story elements but that begining flight section became nothing but a chore and not being able to skip any of the dialog was just plain dumb no matter how you slice it. And like I said, I opted out of 1 shot death mode so is the 1st boss in the game still able to do that to me? My brother tells me it only takes away like 30% health on normal. In fact he says normal feels like easy and easy is literally autopilot. Wtf is up with that? I finally beat the jackhole and was greeted by a bland world with muted colors and mostly empty vistas. If it weren't for the story shift that occurs right at the 2nd Boss, the desert one, I probably would have returned the game. But luckily I find all the story stuff after that amazing. Though staring up the skirt of pedophiles wet dream for all those hours was a bit tiresome. Still an excellent title but I really don't think it's for everyone.

It didn't look like my kinda game so I haven't tried it. I hate that kind of anime combat style that is just a bunch of floaty flying movement that make no sense. The games appearance looked very bland. A lot of greys and browns. That's about it. I've heard the story and music is good, but that's not enough to make me want the game if I don't like the gameplay at least
-
I tried the demo...felt pretty good. I'll probably pick it up once the price drops.
-
For a start you would carry more weight if you had actually played it rather than had just watched gameplay, either way it's your opinion.
-
Watching gameplay doesn't do it justice. It's something you have to actually play yourself to understand.
-
So let me tell a story that goes with this. I watched gameplay of BoTW, so for the last few months i was saying "i don't see the hype around this game. It honestly does not look interesting". I ended up finally playing it last week and realized just how wrong i was. The game is phenomenal. What I'm getting at is that you can't judge a book by its cover. It may look weird or shit on the outside. But once you dive you realize there's so much good stuff in there and have a hard time putting it down.
-
I agree. Nier imo is like just about every other game on ps. ( now, Horizon Zero Dawn made me buy a ps4). And I was never impressed with scalebound. Dev never showed much beyond 2014 sneak peaks. I had a feeling it was gonna go bye-bye.
-
watch hentai, get it outta your system, and actually give it a try
-
some russian dude cracked the game a while back
-
If you enjoyed Devil May Cry, you'll probably enjoy Nier. I really liked the story in this one, though I enjoyed the first game as a whole more.
Seriously what do people see in this game that I'm not seeing, I watch youtube gameplay of it, people say the gameplay and the story is excellent, but I'm not seeing that, it all looks mediocre to me, the only thing that made my eyes go wide, is when the chick exploded and had no clothes on, that's about it, anyone else in the same boat, And it's the same with scale bound, I wasn't impressed with what I saw, people complained by the thousands about its cancellation, to me it wasn't a loss, I wasn't going to purchase it anyway
That's why you don't get it. As far as scaleboubd goes, no one can really know if it was gonna be good or bad since it never released. Why people were pissed about its cancelation was because now well never know as well as because it was one of the few high profile exclusives that was canceled. In a line up of halo, forza and gow, scalebound stood out as something different that MS usually don't take a chance on, like sunset which was an excellent game.

One of the many cases that proves you can't judge a game based on watching someone else play it. Play it yourself. No, it's not overrated.
-
It's weeb if you like a waifu then this is what you buy.

Edited by shell: 5/29/2017 8:11:36 PMYou haven't even played the game. You can't gather a full opinion from a few scraps of story and gameplay. You can't appreciate the story unless you are actually experiencing the whole thing. It's not a game designed to be watched. I would like if streaming and uploading was banned after a certain point, like in Persona 5. The game is supposed to be unpredictable.
-
The game's story, soundtrack, themes, and characters is what sets it above other games. You won't be able to understand any of that based purely on gameplay. It's a whole package. Watching 5 minutes of cut up gameplay is not sufficient to judge the game for what it is. And yes, the game's story and soundtrack in particular, are probably some of, if not the best in any video game, ever. You can listen to the soundtrack on its own but certain musical pieces lose the emotional impact without any context. But the story is something you have to play all the way through to understand. If the game just isn't for you...oh well. Not my problem.
-
No. But it's undoubtedly a game you have to experience instead of watch.
-
Well...I hate to say it .....but...yeah...kinda. It is still a very good game with an intresting story and a phenomenal sound track, seriously I would say that P5 has the best music but then I would be lying, this game has one of the best and most fitting sountracks ever. The gameplay is also pretty awesome, a spectacle fighter like Bayonetta and MGSR but with constantly changing perspectives and switching between fighting and bullethell shooter. But, and this is a big letdown I think, it is slowed down by openworld bullshit. If it were a fullblown spectacle fighter like this it would have been an excelent game easily worthy of a GotY nomination, but the openworld stuff makes it just boring and uneventfull at times, breaking the flow and keeping the game from true excelence.

It makes me want to go out and buy a PS4 since i sold mine. Luckily it's on PC so I'll just get it next month. Game looks unique and fun. I feel like as a gamer we don't get enough of this these days.
-
Just a little bit. Game is great and GOTY material but some people make it seem like it's way way up there.
