Pre-ordering hurts all gamers.

In the last five years or so, we have seen an alarming rise in the release of half-baked, full-price AAA releases. Essentially, we are the PAYING beta testers these days. Developers and publishers will always try to maximize profit by cutting corners, using cheap networking, and creating amazing hype. Trying to convince us to buy sight-unseen (except what THEY want you to see). By NOT preordering, we send the message that we'd rather wait and see. Essentially, we're choosing to make informed decisions based on the ACTUAL GAME, rather than the hype-candy we're fed leading up to release. This holds devs to a much higher standard at launch and in the several months following launch. Imagine the quality of game we would get if publishers and developers knew that their profits would be solely dictated by sales AFTER launch, based on the actual -blam!-ing game they made; not the hype, and not the reviews of people in their pockets. Pre-ordering hurts all gamers. Kotaku article on the subject: https://www.kotaku.com.au/2015/06/stop-preordering-video-games/

When did you start gaming? 2010? Because back in the day we paid 70-80 dollars for shitty 2d sprites on NES and SNES made by 3 or for developers on a minuscule budget and we loved the shit out of it. Not only did games cost more, but because of inflation those $80 games were equivalent to something like $120 today. These days I'm putting hundreds of hours into games with hundreds of millions of dollars of investment with better graphics and gameplay and more content then I could have ever dreamed of when I was a kid. For cheaper too! So excuse me, but all these fucboys on their soapboxes talking all this sanctimonious jibber jabber about games "these days" being a ripoff or whatever can shove it. And if I decide to support a game day one and not wait for some shitty Steam sale that's my prerogative. If nobody paid full price for games we'd all be stuck playing f2p garbage and mobile games.
