Can Destiny 2 run 4K 60fps on Microsoft's Project Scorpio?

Here is a video explaining it if you do not want to read: https://youtu.be/3Yq6lBfnJgA The simple answer is yes, well...kinda. True 60fps is still an unanswered question, but continue reading to see how Project Scorpio can replicate it. Microsoft has been developing Project Scorpio for years. In in those years many new and innovative technology has been implemented. One of the new features is called interpolation. This new way of rendering frames is quite complicated, so stay with me. Interpolation is a process which uses both the CPU and GPU and deliver the highest quality. Project Scorpio can use this technique to convert/transform 30fps to 60ps, while also upgrading the response time. Now, this might sound crazy and impossible, but it's not. It all lies in the engineering. Let's start with a game that runs at 30fps. Without interpolation the CPU will be keeping the game at 30fps. With interpolation the CPU will send the 30fps to the GPU, where it can upscale the frames to 60 using any additional power the console is not using. This will also speed up refresh time as a result to keeps it smooth. Although it is not true 60fps it might be the best we can get. All of this information was hidden in the white pages for Project Scorpio. I hope Bungie recognizes this feature and adds interpolation support for Destiny 2. Thank you for reading!

  • Even if it can, Sony, Activision and Bungie won't allow it.

    • I believe it, I also believe it will be capable of a whole lot more. Can't wait for E3 to hear what MS has to offer.

      • Short answer no, long answer Scorpio doesn't have the CPU for it to run 60 at 4K and well it would possible to generate an artificial 60 in-game movement and physics would still be operating at 30 making some things seem smooth and others sluggish moreover it would require additional programming to make it do such a thing. Expect 30 fps at native 4K downscaled for Xbox one and PS4 as a console standard.

        • No one knows. Me personal, I would have to plug my laptop up to the console while running the game and log everything during play for a good while to know.

        • It just doesn't make sense to me that Sony marketed games will run and look better on Scorpio than PSPro. Xbox has said it is entirely up to the developers so I wouldn't be surprised if scorpios power is limited for Sony marketed games.

Here's a read for everyone: https://www.polygon.com/2017/4/6/15204864/xbox-scorpio-hardware-specs-cpu-gpu-4k Really good comparison here, they put the equivalent of xbox scorpio into a pc and ran games to see if they could achieve 60 FPS. https://www.gamespot.com/articles/heres-how-a-pc-with-xbox-scorpio-specs-performs/1100-6449878/
