For the record I'm not a PvP player, I like PvE waaaaaaaay better and 60fps would be good for both sids of the game, NOT just PvP. On top of that plenty of games manage to run at 60fps and have good graphics as well. Bungie's proprietary engine is garbage, and yes 30fps (though VERY disappointing) is not the end of the world, but it's a symptom of a larger problem, Bungie is to cheap, lazy or both to make their game the best it can be Trying to split the community down the middle on this is garbage, everyone should want this game to run at 60fps

No they don't...and no they shouldn't. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gbFIU7BfrV4&t=108s This is Titanfall 2. Its able to keep a pretty stable frame rate of 60 fps, because Respawn reduces resolution (down to 900p on PS4 and down to 720p on XB1), and strips down its background renderings. Respawn has a lot of experience at this, so they are like a very good stage magician. You're constantly looking (as you play) only at those things that they want you to see. But if you take your eyes off that you'll see a very crudely rendered, static background relative to whats being animated in the foreground. The moment the game moves to cutscenes that have needs to render more complex activity on screne? Down go the framerates. So NO...the issue isn't that Bungie is "lazy" or "cheap". ITS LIKE LOST SAID IN HIS POST. Bungie simply isn't willing to make the COMPROMISES to resolution, animation or the size and scope of their PVE play spaces to hit that 60 fps mark....and they aren't willing to have PVE run at one frame rate...and PvP at another. The console hits a TECHNOLOGICAL LIMIT in terms of what it can render. Respawn is willing to sacrifice much to hit that frame rate mark...and given how fast MP player moves in Titanfall 2, I think that's a reasonable thing to do for THAT game. Bungie is more concerned about providing you with a play space that looks unique and feels alive....like your moving about in a world that existed and had its own history before you showed up.... ...and are willing to sacrifice frame rate to do it.

  • It's nice that you and Sols believe what Bungie says and everything, I get the distinct feeling that you guys would still support Bungie even if they made the game 15 or 10fps

I can't speak for Sols, but nothing You've said is remotely true about me. I simply have lived long enough to know that there are NO free lunches to be had. EVERYTHING comes at a price....and you ultimately have to decide whether you're willing to pay the sticker price. Consoles have a finite amount of processing power...and no amount of bad-mouthing developers is going to change that. If you allocate that power to one task, then it is NOT available for other ones. If you burn up processing power to maintain a high frame rate...you're going to have to make compromises somewhere else. By either lowering resolution, rendering fewer objects in game, limiting the size and scope of the play space, or animating objects more crudely....and if you're willing to make that compromise....fine. For competitive shooters like Overwatch or Titanfall...that may be a reasonable thing to do. But in most PRGs or other PVE-based play....that is not a compromise most gamers in these genres are going to value. Because it adds little to in-game performance, and often damages the immersiveness of the play environment. So While I'm not going to let Bungie tell me tha tI should be content with 15 fps. I'm not going to let you tell me that I need to have 60 fps or else I'm "stupid" or "getting robbed". At age 49 I've lived PLENTLY long enough not to have Bungie bullying me and telling me what I should want. ...and certainly too long for you to get away with it either.

  • You might also want to note: It's not the fault of Sony or Microsoft, it's the fault of BUNGIE that THEIR game can't run at 60fps AND have good graphics👎🏻
