Thorn Meta vs Destiny Year 3 Metas. Which would you rather have?

9 RepliesI would rather take on a team of 6 Thorn/Felwinter's Lie vanilla Bladedancers all running blink than what we have now. At least my Hawkmoon was godly back then and I had a chance.

B) got so hammered in year 1 that they forgot what the thorn meta was really like C) didn't play in year 1 Please tell me how using only thorn, tlw, hawkmoon with felwinters sniper was balanced . Thorn could two shot you and then the burn would finish you off. Hawkmoon's exotic perks could 1 shot a player. Tlw dealt bonus precision damage when fired from the hip. How was that balanced.

I'd have ANY meta over the thorn meta. I was sick of having thorn's screen effect every time I got shot by a primary.

Bring back HoW anyday. And why is everyone so quick to forget the other dope guns? Hawkmoon, The Messenger and Hopscotch Pilgrim were all capable of beating Thorn, and obviously TLW. We had a multitude of snipers and shotguns to choose from. -blam!- all you nerf-babies.

Year 1 crucible was awesome. It's too bad that Bungie let's the sandbox team do the whole 'weapon of the month' balancing. I swear this is the only 1PS on consoles that can't balance a shotgun and sniper

I really didn't like the thorn meta. No variety. And I found thorn... annoying. All those post mortem deaths. I have always prefered scouts though. So I would try to just sit back and kill from a distance back then. Now though, I get killed by all sorts of stuff. It's fantastic!

5 RepliesReturning to the time of .2 second ttk's, little to no gun diversity, felwinters sniper, 1 hit kill body shots, constant burn outs, and two tap kills sounds like fun. Yeah, a real blast. If any of you want to say that stickies are worse than all this, try and make the argument.

Especially in Trials, where if you are using a special weapon that does not regenerate ammo, you might as well not even had equipped a special weapon. To be fair though, the current game still almost every gun able to compete with any weapon(If you can somehow get ammo). For example, last weekend of Trials I was using a Shadow Price and the Vacancy as my weapons. They were doing really well for the most part, which would not have been possible in the Thorn meta. Honestly though, both of these game metas are complete rubbish, I hate them both equally. Though, if I had to choose, the current meta is better than the Thorn meta just do to the fact that there are plenty of viable weapons.

8 RepliesI believe the current meta is the best the game has ever had. ALMOST every weapon type seems viable and Icebreaker is countered easily. Hopefully the weapon in Destiny 2 aren't so dependent on perk rolls. Perks like Partial Refund, Grenadier, and Icarus are great passives but don't define a weapons worth like Rifled Barrel and Braced Frame.

I'll take strong primary and strong special play over what we have now. I have never experienced such passive play in destiny full teams in ib just sitting in spawn.

There was nothing fun about someone shooting 2 bullets in you then running away and letting the exotic perk finish you off and literally giving you no chance to retaliate. Nothing skilled or fun about that lol. This current "meta" isn't anything like that Thorn meta in terms of bullshit crutch weapons bailing people who lack the ability to shoot straight consistently, out. I'd rather get outgunned by somebody who simply landed more headshots than I did, than to deal with Thorn from back in the day. Do I believe it was nerfed too much? Yea. Will I sit and act as if the original op Thorn was a fair and balanced weapon? Hell nah and anyone who was there, and being honest with themselves knows this lol. People are being very dramatic about this current meta Imo. "oh no I don't have special ammo at all times and after I die!" Wait you mean that shit that spawns all over the map damn near every minute?! You can't find any of that?! I literally run by special on my way to almost every engagement. Pick it up and you are back to your shotgun-hoarding, sniper camping ways. It's not that difficult. Those rose-tinted glasses are so magical. They never cease to amaze me.
