Destiny Fan Story: Glenn-4 (Chapter One)

Hey guys! This is the first part of chapter one in the story of Glenn-4. Think of this as a pilot chapter, I just want to see how people react to it. Feel free to comment your thoughts and I hope you guys enjoy! Chapter 1.1 Darkness. That's all I see. Nothing but an endless void. I didn't know how long I'd been there, but the one thing I know now is that I was dead, and I had been for a while. It felt like I was floating in molasses, I was unable to move and was at the mercy of the slow moving current. The only thing I could ever think of was how dark and lonely it was. It felt like centuries had passed before a small light appeared far away from me, like the light at the end of a tunnel. The light grew brighter and the molasses that was holding me began to weaken. I felt myself regain control of my body and I moved toward the light with all the strength I could muster, and the light grew closer and brighter until it blinded me. A powerful blast of wind blew past me with a deafening pop and my eyes suddenly opened. I sat up quickly, mainly trying to comprehend what had happened. A muffled noise came from in front of me, I looked up and saw a floating, white object with eight, small pyramids protruding from a central sphere with a glowing eye on it. More muffled noise came from the sphere and the pyramids moved with it as if to mimic a moving mouth. I couldn't make out the words, but I could tell that the voice was feminine. I gestured toward where my ear was and the object seemed to realise what was wrong and moved over and behind me. Before I could react a tingling sensation moved over my head and a blue light emited from behind me with each wave of the sensation. Moments later there was a metallic click and I could hear the ambient sounds of a forest around me. "All better?" Asked the orb as she moved back in front of me. "Ja, ich denke." I replied. "Oh my! Hang on!" She exclaimed through a laugh as she moved behind me once more. "You seem to translate things as you hear them, but you don't appear to automatically speak that language like most Exos." The sensation only came over me once and the equivilent of a paragraph of code began running through my vision. It disappeared quickly and I spoke to see if my language had changed. "Is everything okay now?" I asked with worrying curiosity. "It seems okay now" she replied as she moved in front of me once more. "Are you feeling all right? Can you stand?" She questioned, with the voice of a caring mother. "Yeah, I think so." I said as I rose to my feet. When I was standing, I began to look around. I was in a city street, but it was covered in wildlife, like a forest had grown over it. The street was abandoned, filled with shops that had broken windows, doors, and walls went down the length of the entire street. "Wh-what happened? Where am I?" I asked frantically, feeling disoriented. "Calm down," she said soothingly, "You were dead, and I just ressurected you, so it's normal to feel frightened, and you're in the European Dead Zone, Germany to be more specific." "But why?" I questioned. "You're a Guardian, actually now your my Guardian, and I'm your Ghost." She said informatively. "Your one of the gifted few who can wield a force known as the Light." When she said 'Light', a very specific feeling washed over me, like deja vu. I then remembered a giant, white orb in the sky. "The Traveler..." I said quietly. She recoiled when I said the Traveler's name. "How'd you know that? About the Traveler." "I don't know, the name just came to me, like a flashback." I replied. "That's incredible! If you're able to recall some if your past, you'd be invaluable to us!" She said excitedly as she began moving down the street. I raced after her until I was just behind her. "So where are we going....." I paused, not knowing what to call her. She seemed to notice my pause and answered my silence. "Call me Seven, I don't like being called Ghost like other Ghosts, seems a bit weird. Like if I called you Exo, what do I call you by the way?" She said. I combed my memory for a name. "Glenn, Glenn-4." I said after a few moments. "Nice to meet you Glenn, and I'm taking you to a settlement we're building up, right under the Traveler in fact." "Where is it though" "Its just north of the Caspian Sea, we have quite the journey ahead of us unless we find a ship." She explained while examining signs as we moved along. After a few more minutes of walking and questions, a fierce cry came from down the street. "Get down!" Commanded Seven. I crouched behind a nearby car that was rusted and grown over with moss. "Its the Fallen." She whispered. "Who's the Fallen?" I asked. "They're aliens, they scavenge for anything and move on, like pirates." She said with a bitter tone. I began to look around for anything I could use, I instead saw my reflection in a nearby window. My head was exposed, it was jet black with glowing green eyes. I was wearing a dark green hoodie with gray military pants and boots. "I can't fight them wearing this, also I don't have a weapon." Seven seemed to distracted by the Fallen to hear me. The Fallen were moving closer at an alarming speed, only 10 meters away now. I looked around for anything I could use. 7 meters. A crowbar layed directly below my feet and I picked it up quickly and readied myself. 5 meters. Peering through the broken car window, I could see them clearly. Four arms, four blue eyes, and armor made of scrap. All of them wore a yellow cloak. There was a total of six Fallen. The closest one was only a few feet from me now, it would be my only chance to fight and take his gun. I turned the corner and swung the crowbar at his head. As I moved, Seven yelled "Wait!". Before I could react or hit the Fallen, a purple streak whizzed past me and the world exploded and shook around me in a brilliant purple light show.

  • Quite a good read dear, but shouldn't be put in lore. Simply because it isn't lore. But I assume your Exo wasn't truly dead, hence why they experienced that blackness unlike any other guardian and has some form of memory? And is there a reason why your ghost didn't fashion armour like the our dinklebot did? I assume it can be based on time constraints. And of course may not be common practice. But please continue; in the proper forum section, I do want to write my own so could be good to have someone else to keep me motivated.
