As everyone is well aware trials has been a major influence in nerfs and buffs. I think the majority of the playerbase doesn't like trials or play it anymore. It was fun when it first came out and the games you get matched with are random people. Now it's complete trash and brings out the worst in people.
I think we can all agree that trials has had a negative impact on the game. So I say for destiny 2 we remove it and replace it with some other competitive pvp.
Edit - wow so many replies and likes. Thanks
Im not saying remove competitive pvp, I love watching sweats and high intensity games on YouTube and twitch, what I'm saying is elimination as a game mode brings out the worst in people and what's fun in being shouted at by team mates for making the wrong play in a important situation in a game of trials. I would like to see a trials game mode of skirmish or zone control, something competitive but not elimination. The top pvp players obviously like trials but that's a small percentage of the player base and the nerfs that affect PVE because of trials are ruining the game. Look at special ammo for example
Edit 2 cosmo replied. I'm done
Edit 3 to all the people saying trials should stay. I agree, the concept of trials of osiris should stay and it's good to have a competitive game mode that makes people want to try their best. What Im saying is the state that trials is in has caused a lot of messed up stuff in pve.
1) skorri nerf - in a raid we now have to wait double the time to get our supers before a boss
2) special ammo is all messed up
3) constant nerfs of weapons
The post was made with a view to change the way trials of osiris is like have either a skirmish, zone control, salvage or capture the flag sort of game where it's not just who can throw their sticky first and then jump the hell out of there. It's icebreaker/wormwood city at the moment.
Trials was good in HOW and I went to the Lighthouse 3x a week most weeks but now it has definitely declined and seems like a lot of people are not enjoying it as it is right now.
Even though I used to love trials and have gone flawless almost 50 times, I can't help but agree that's it's had only detrimental effects on the game.
The nerfs attempted to 'balance' trials have seriously harmed pvp and pve. At no point ever were snipers a problem in pvp. Yet they received dozens of nerfs to bring them down for trials. This destroyed them in pvp and seriously harmed them in pve. It lead to the shotgun dominance we saw at the beginning of year 3. Which then lead to the nerf that completely destroyed their competitive viability I pve, pvp and trials.
The skorris nerf clearly aimed at trials hurt pve in the worst way. The Templar challenge mode is made drastically easier when you launch the encounter with full supers. The skorris nerf doubled the amount of time we had to wait for the Titan to get their bubble back.
Either trials need to be removed. Or all game modes need to be balanced separately.
For a single gametype targeted at a specific niche of the player base, it has far too much sway over the balancing of PVP as a whole..... The weapon balance of the game as a whole shouldn't be dictated because of a specialised PVP mode..... Just my opinion.
-
Why not keep trials but give it a unique arsenal of weapons and weapon types to chose from? You select your loadout at the start. Obviously supers and class abilities would still factor in, but as trials is supposed to be the top tier of pvp play, this would reinforce the need for skill, team class make up, and strategy.

2 types of players will buy destiny 2. First type:Youtubers who make money off of it. Second type:Dumbasses
-
Pvp needs to be dumped all together otherwise this game will continue to be ass.
-
It's not trials, Elim or anything else. It's called Bungie and horrid decision making. Removing special mostly. You should be roasted for choking. There isn't participation awards in going flawless. I like that. Too many kids think they deserve to go flawless without working hard to be better.
-
Op is smarter than the whole bungie Dev team
-
Go on Twitch right now, I guarantee you at least the top 10 streamers right now are playing ToO
-
Agreed. Tired of having this game tailored for the minority. Fun and playability should be all that matters. All I play is pve
-
The easier said than done solution is to have different weapons and gear for Crucible. That way those can be adjusted for Crucible and the stuff for PvE isn't effected. Like said, I'm sure that is much easier said than done thorough.

I don't get it. Your post title says remove trials from destiny 2 then your third edit after cozmo replied says you didn't mean remove it, just change the way it is!!!??? I'm crap at pvp but she still like playing trials.
-
Yes please god make sure the competitive scene never returns to Destiny in Destiny 2. We do not need the strongest scions known as Bungie nerfing us to hell again.
-
Trials has lost all value. People are being boosted or money is being made from paid boosting. This needs to be eradicated or redefined.
-
I agree to the point it shouldn't guide the entire game. It's ruined PvP (personally) to the point I don't play until people start hounding me to get on Destiny again. Maybe it was the God-mode cheaters - lag-switchers that made me hate it, but I've never played Trials of Sweatys since week 13 of Year 2 as a result
-
Pvp should be stand alone without any more pve gear balance.
-
Remove card based input sbmm Sweats vs sweats Casuals vs casuals No gamble to go flawless
-
have been saying this for the longest and i left the game for good because of it checked the forums today and saw this i have a little hope now... streamers paid carries etc completely ruined the game mode for everyone and they just want to crash noobs if they face similar opponents they start whining like kids but yeah i used to love this game so much now i just hate it you right it bring the worst out of people
-
Ranked doesn't leave people on the sidelines, hopefully they remember they had alot of success with Halo ranked system. It's time to bring it back.

They should keep Trials but assign weekly loadouts and disable abilities.
-
im not good at trials but i still have fun.

Hah! If you were looking for the scrubbiest players on the forums, they've all seemed to flock here!
-
Bungie won't do it. Way to much money in the line. I love trials. It's a great game mode.

How about a petition to remove you from forums? Git gud, scrub

The same thing could be said about raids. People aren't just dicks in trials, if you mess up in a critical point in a raid you are just as likely to be yelled at by teammates. Yes balancing is an issue, but in my opinion certain people in the community are the main problem looking forward.
