Petition to change Trials of Osiris in Destiny 2

As everyone is well aware trials has been a major influence in nerfs and buffs. I think the majority of the playerbase doesn't like trials or play it anymore. It was fun when it first came out and the games you get matched with are random people. Now it's complete trash and brings out the worst in people. I think we can all agree that trials has had a negative impact on the game. So I say for destiny 2 we remove it and replace it with some other competitive pvp. Edit - wow so many replies and likes. Thanks Im not saying remove competitive pvp, I love watching sweats and high intensity games on YouTube and twitch, what I'm saying is elimination as a game mode brings out the worst in people and what's fun in being shouted at by team mates for making the wrong play in a important situation in a game of trials. I would like to see a trials game mode of skirmish or zone control, something competitive but not elimination. The top pvp players obviously like trials but that's a small percentage of the player base and the nerfs that affect PVE because of trials are ruining the game. Look at special ammo for example Edit 2 cosmo replied. I'm done Edit 3 to all the people saying trials should stay. I agree, the concept of trials of osiris should stay and it's good to have a competitive game mode that makes people want to try their best. What Im saying is the state that trials is in has caused a lot of messed up stuff in pve. 1) skorri nerf - in a raid we now have to wait double the time to get our supers before a boss 2) special ammo is all messed up 3) constant nerfs of weapons The post was made with a view to change the way trials of osiris is like have either a skirmish, zone control, salvage or capture the flag sort of game where it's not just who can throw their sticky first and then jump the hell out of there. It's icebreaker/wormwood city at the moment. Trials was good in HOW and I went to the Lighthouse 3x a week most weeks but now it has definitely declined and seems like a lot of people are not enjoying it as it is right now.       Problem with trials is there is no k.d based system we get matched with ppl outside our skill level with trash gear and weapons designed for a mode like trials... No balancing of weapons either... Tell me how does a palindrone out shoot a scout from long to mid range with 2-3 shots?

        • IMO the best suggestion for improving trials that I've heard thus far, is making a simple change to the win/loss system for the trials card. Specifically by implementing the ability to remove a loss from the card with an additional win. This would create greater opportunity for a wider varying skill-set of players to reach lighthouse. Granted less skilled teams may take many extra games of back and forth win/loss/loss/win/win/win/loss/win........etc. In theory, a team that can maintain a 51% win ratio could eventually reach lighthouse under this system. Bungie could still reward the higher skilled players by providing an emblem, reward, or stat boost to players who run a card in a true '0' loss flawless run. I believe this change would increase the playerbase for trials, which would be the greatest benefit imo. It would also curb the demand for carries as op mentioned. Also wouldn't it be nice having the comfort of knowing that if you lost your 8-0 match to something stupid like a teammate laggin out, or getting ddos, that you could simply just erase that undeserved loss by just getting an extra win in the following match, versus having to start a whole new card over again.

Hand cannon range MIDA Multitool.             • What makes me mad about it is the numerous times me and my friends have been 8 and 0 to lose to a team of three and when we do it says that only one player on the other team achieved ultimate victory. That pisses me off.

              It would be nice if they just made it so you can't bring your own weapons into competitive pvp. There's a base hc, base scout, ar etc etc, you pick your load out that best suits your play style before the game starts. Everyone would be on a level playing field(as far as weapons) and it would eliminate the trials nerfs. Obv there would have to be fine tuning of each weapon so they are all competitive with each other. I would hope this would make it more skill based and less reliant on the meta. Just my 2 cents 🤷‍♂️

                  why not just make a casual variation of trials with random matching and random rewards to enable the unlock of the grimoire and get some of the intented experience with the casual community. Then have the Competative communty gain access to Adept variations of The weapons and maybe even adept armor with small minor but exclusive perk sets and perhaps even gain the opportunity to get a guarenteed Tier 12 armor piece for second flawless runs on same character once per week? Tier 12 isn't all that important but it would give a geniune reason for any diehard to put in their effort for a fruitful reward. where the casuals would gain access to the experience they are otherwise locked out of and the TrialHards get the real rewards for the skills they have developed. I've heard complaints about this idea in the past from Trials regulars who say this is a bad idea, but the only reasoning they have is that fighting casuals is what makes their runs easier... lol, which brings the irony around on them where their own advice can be used back at them. Git Gud. :P

                  • No, I like Trials, right team it's a lot of fun. One change that should be made though, is once you've gone flawless, you should only match up to teams who have also gone. It would offer a more competitive mode to those who have gone, and those who haven't.

                  • The issue with Trials is there are often carries. The chance of winning is slim. I will suggest once a player reach the Lighthouse once, he will not able to play trials again or bar him from playing trials for a period of time.

                    • Completing a raid will reward all guardians participating in it for the first 3 completions. After that if you run it more you gain no rewards but you can help others finish the raid without preventing someone else from completing it. In Trials the exact opposite happens. Those who have already completed it 3x in one week can prevent other players from going to the Lighthouse by continuing to run it over and over. Why create end game content that allows that?

                      • Ideally pvp would go away for good,however that isn't going to happen because once that blight touches a game it almost always is incurable. Pvp needs to take a back seat to pve like it was always supposed to, and yes it is supposed to the lore reason for crucible is to train for fighting enemies like cabal and what not shaxx even had dialog to support this. Trials is also supposed to be secondary as a form training more strict and harsh than the regular crucible but is still meant to train and prepare guardians for the stronger enemies we will face down the road. Pvp should be secondary in all ways to pve as it is how the game is set up, guardians who only ever spend time in the crucible would likely be seen as a waste of light by there peers. Since they don't/rarely go off the fight the enemies that have encroached on our lands and all they do is consume resources that could have been spent driving the fallen out of the cosmodrome or exterminating the hive presence there or reclaiming other lost territory so humanity can expand out from the city again.

                        (This is a copy of my reply to Cozmo) In one way or the other, Everyone wants Trials to stay. But it's obvious that needs some tweaks. There's some good suggestions here and others not so good. Weapons balancing: I understand why some weapons needs to be nerfed to come to the same level with the others. Sometimes numbers in the paper don't reflect the reality. Some of the Guardians don't understand and due to that they don't accept. Separate PvP from Pve? Humm...honestly, I'm not sure about that. Trials exploiting: Lots of people out there using trials to make a business. Taking advantage of people(especially young Guardians) Some of them actually achieving what they promise but some don't. I believe trials should have a few changes already mentioned in this thread. Examples: Matchmaking: 1) Been flawless with your character? Can't do trials this week with that character anymore. 2) Been flawless? Matchup with another flawless. (For those crying for the competitive mode) 3) And there's more good ideas/ examples out there. To the pros, maybe a special emblem for a 9win without a single loss. (5-0) x 9 Also I think that it's Bungie responsibility to help creating awareness for those who want (some of them say that they need) to be carried to the lighthouse. Lot of people are under aged, some with mental problems and some just naive. It's common knowledge that some Guardians have had their things deleted or even their accounts deleted. Not to mention those that used their personal information for other things. To finalise. I understand the support from bungie to the streamers, after all, they help to spread the word. But, don't change the game because of them. Want to do changes that you're not sure? Create a pole. Let the community participate, let the community that love and live this game help.                         • i will buy only D2 (without 2 DLCs). WHY? Because second DLC is trials. If they change it to sth normal, I will buy it, if not, I dont. It's that simple.

                            • I think the discussion should shift away from removing it, and more towards "well how can this mode coexist with the other activities In the game?". Here's an idea: what if trials took away your gear and replaced it with stock loadouts for the mode, to make for even balance all around? What if damage and armor differences dissolved, and the mode is based more on effective communication and knowledge of the core mechanics, rather than switching Ning the balance towards whatever gear is most effective in multiplayer? Trials is very fun immediately following a patch because strategies are changing, people are shifting their play styles to try and find what's the most effective. That's really exciting, but I so agree that it has some negative consequences on the overall balance of the game and the state of the crucible. Sometimes I wonder what destiny would be like if you could vote for maps and modes, imagine seeing a list of modes like "mida's on shores of time" or "assault rifles on asylum", hand picked maps and modes tailor made for trials that truly put teams on the most even and competitive footing, with some variety in modes and say, the ability to pick basic traits like class or jump style, maybe grenades, maybe supers?
