Snipers weren't a problem in Y1. Y1 was driven by primary-based meta's. You COULD snipe, but because primaries were stronger, it was much riskier to do so than it was during TTK.
Of course, if your a Taken Tot, then you would think of the TTK as "Y1."

The thing about Y1 is that primary gameplay was [i]rewarding.[/i] Special ammo was everywhere so people could spam their snipers (which were the prevalent special) but using your primary the entire match was just as rewarding and you could remain competitive. Primary gameplay isn't rewarding anymore and special ammo is gone. Primaries suck and specials don't have ammo. (save for a crappy sniper) It's not fun, nor competitive.

This game has never been competitive, but I find the current state very fun.
