Would you have bought Destiny if it had been created by someone other than Bungie?

Yes, the game looked good regardless

428

No, Bungie's name enhanced my interest

Personally, the only reason I got interested in it was because I saw Bungie were developing it. I want to know if there is anyone else that might not have been interested in it had it been developed by say Bethesda or another company.

  • I definitely would've skipped it if Bethesda made it.

  • It wouldn't of looked like that if it was created by someone else.

  • The game is/was one of the greatest. Bungie did a horrible job managing it, and listening to the community.

    • Would have played regardless, but would have loved if it was a open world RPG by Bethesda.

    • I sometimes wonder what Destiny would be like if Blizzard had made it. They've been doing RNG for ages now and, let's face it, Overwatch is amazing. They know FPS's too.

    • Bungie's name garnered my interest in the game before Destiny had a name.

    • It was Bungie's name that kindled my interest in Destiny. They made Halo, the reason I bought an Xbox way back. They had my trust as a developer based on the games they had made. Shame that after 2500 hours of Destiny (across 2 PS accounts and an Xbox account) and seeing the direction things are headed it's now Bungie's name that's putting me off Destiny 2.

      • I bought Destiny in spite of the fact it was made by Bungie. It's marketing was showing this really deep immersive world that I wanted to join and play a part of, my only fear was that a company as over rated, unoriginal, and in some ways incompetent as Bungie would end up making huge promises about an elaborate immersive world only to vomit a banal shadow of what it could have been with a short meaningless campaign centered 99% around the player kill experience.... To be fair................... The final product was actually worse than I could have ever imagined and only reinforced my feeling that Bungie is one of the worst developers on the market and it's extremely fitting that they are practically partners with Activision now because between the two of them, one is the worst developer, and now I don't have to choose which. So. Fanboys be like "herp derp then why are you still hurr?" Simple. While they have utterly failed to produce the game they promised this would be in all ways it is physically possible to fail. The physics are enjoyable. The balance of weapons is TERRIBLE, the active skills feel weak and underwhelming. Supers feel super blah. Sometimes I wonder how the first people who make it through a raid did it because the mechanics half the time make no freaking sense unless you already know what you're doing and then for all the work you put into it three months go by and all your old gear is just worthless garbage now because they deliberately made it obsolete in spite of stated goals to not do so. But gods damnit it's fun to run shooting things in this game, atleast they got /that/ right. All I can do is hope they learned from their mistakes in destiny 1, and not repeat them in Destiny 2. They won't. But you can hope.

      • I said no but I think my honest answer would have been. Bungie made me notice and buy it but I hated it initially. It took friends towards the end of year one to open my eyes to the game so I could well have been the same story regardless of who made it.

      • I did, I was a CoD player (still am I guess) but I played the first 3 Halos. Once I heard a friend talking about destiny and he said it's a bungie game I decided to give it a try. Besides GTA I can't play a shooter without controls similar to Call of Duty so it was a good fit for me.

      • I never liked Halo (because I rarely played, and only got my ass destroyed at friends' houses) so I really didn't know who Bungie was when I first learned of Destiny. Once I find out who Bungie was, it added a bit more excitement. Halo was so popular, that even if I personally never enjoyed it, I saw slightly more potential to the game. But I really only bought the game because it looked epic, the alpha test was fun, and the beta was even better!

        • Bungie making it is icing one the cake. Activision makes it moldy a bit, but what are immune systems for anyway?

Bethesda? Developing Destiny? I love that company but I don't know if I want Raid bosses flying backwards.

        • Bethesda? Lol. So constant crashes and glitches? Bungie did good with Destiny even with its shortcomings. Too many CoD and Halo fanbois nit picked and they became a blight on the community.

        • Not sure if I wanted Hideo Kojima help create Destiny....it'd be too confusing and so complicated but then the story would make perfect sense cuz the story in Destiny needed more work especially on the Exo Stranger and the story on her whereabouts

        • I didn't even know about destiny. My brother got me the destiny ps4 bundle and I didn't have anything else to play so I started playing destiny. First 40 mins I got motion sickness. Had to lie down to recover for three hours. After a month, I gave it a try again and met a girl who introduced me to her friends whom helped me with the game. After that never played another game again.

        • True, Bungie's name is what brought my attention to Destiny. However, it wasn't the reason I bought it. I bought it because it seemed like an interesting, enjoyable game.
