Although I don't mind having to hunt for special ammo I feel that it would benefit every player if they allowed us to keep up to 3 in the magazine/battery/whatever after death. Don't have it? Go get it. Fusion rifles are not the best of options with everyone having access to sidearm ammo after death. By the time you charge your weapon they've already put a whole clip into you. That being said I also think they are the perfect ambush weapon at the moment because almost no one expects it lol.
