I'm sure everyone remembers that one moment, the moment when you finally get Vex Mythoclast or the Crux of Crota to drop, or finally complete the quest for Touch of Malice or Outbreak Prime. These moments are arguably the best feeling in Destiny I've ever had (minus the Vex Mythoclast, because RNG hates me). But now Bungie is afraid to make anything OverPowered like Vex originally, or the scourge of LFG, Gjallarhorn, were. This creates raid exotics that either don't feel like they're worth the grind, or like they're doing you more harm than good. Perhaps I should go into more detail, because I feel like a couple of the raid exotic weapons need some love, with a few exceptions. Vex Mythoclast: The nerfs to fusion rifles in combination with Vex's own "personal Bungie treatment" made it come crashing down from its high perch, and it's never been the same since then. It's reserve ammunition is horrendous, in combination with the fact that this primary weapon, unlike all other primary weapons in the game, is not hitscan, which makes it tricky for the bolts to hit their mark. Does the Vex make anyone explode? No. Does it have infinite ammo? No. Does it even deal more damage to Vex targets? No. If I had the choice between Vex and an Adept VoC I would pick Vision because it's just better in every way. Necrochasm: I feel like this one is actually fine, the buff they gave it actually makes the weapon feel like worthy competition with the Adept FateBringer. Maybe reduce the time on the timed cursed thrall explosion? Because most PvP players have the sense to back off before it procs. Outbreak Prime: Again, like Necrochasm, I have very little against this weapon, it has good everything in combination with Outlaw. However, I feel like it's nanites just don't do enough damage to non-fallen enemies. Why does it deal less damage? Necrochasm's thrall explosion doesn't deal less damage to enemies that aren't Hive, so I don't see any reason why it can't get a small nanite damage boost against enemies that aren't Fallen. Touch of Malice: Oooh, where to start with this one? On paper the ToM seems like it would be an extremely potent weapon in most situations, but due to multiple factors, it simply doesn't make the cut. Number one: it's sights are terrible, and obstruct a large portion of the screen. Number two: even with Smart Drift Control, the final bullet will still make you're screen kick and not reset. Number 3: situations will arise in PVP wherein you need one more shot to kill someone, but that final shot will also kill you. Anybody who has tryed to use ToM in PvP will tell you that this happens more often than you would think. Number 4: trying to kill the enemy that is about to kill you will result in your death more times than you think. One way to easily make this weapon a more desireable pick over literally any other weapon that won't kill you is to change the Touch of Mercy from "three rapid kills will restore A • (3)HP" into... "One rapid kill with the final round will restore A • (1)HP". Seriously, there is no reason whatsoever to use this weapon outside of the Oryx or Daughters encounter in King's Fall. Which is a shame because I absolutely love the lore of the weapon, and want to love the weapon itself so much it hurts (literally). But hey, that's just my opinion. If anybody has any other ideas or thinks that they're fine the way they are feel free to speak up and give me some feedback; Deej, Cosmo, how do you guys feel about this?

  • Make exotics powerful again and make them RNG, not as exciting to get them from a quest. You could argue powerful exotics fuel elitism like the ghorn in year 1, but it's that kind of elitism that gives the player goals. You want to get that weapon so you can do the highest grade activity, so you spend more time grinding for that weapon, which helps Bungie in the long run by extending the longevity of the game.
