I took this screenshot, and it has me thinking. Zelda has the "If you see it, you can go there." motto, I don't want D2 to be like that, I just want patrols to be more fulfilling than just doing bounties and public events. Bungie did an amazing job with the landscape and draw distances, it's a shame we don't get to fully explore them.
Destiny is a shared world shooter/MMO hybrid, whatever, but it's so limited. They dropped last gen, so there's more power to do more in the game, I just hope they put it to good use. The way D1 is ending is how I think D2 should begin, with more openness. I can't express that enough.
Even with all the nerfs, complaints, exclusive content, etc. Destiny at its core is a great game. Bungie is a talented developer and they nailed the mechanics and gunplay to a T. I hope they don't scrap what they've built and ruined the formula.
I don't care what platform people play on, we're all part of the Destiny community and as a community need to push Bungie to make D2 the best it can be. Destiny, as it is now, is because we as a community asked for it, and Bungie listened. They delivered albeit bad timing. I honestly think Age of Triumph is a great send off to Destiny 1.
I hope Bungie takes that and makes it the heart of Destiny 2, with an actual story of course. Some people won't agree with me and that's fine, we're all entitled to our own opinions.
EDIT: Surprisingly everybody agrees with this thread. I know Destiny 2 is practically finished, but a game like this would be so much more immersive. Thanks for the positive feedback, everyone.
EDIT: Almost 300 upvotes and 200 comments. I don't care about trending, but it's nice to see a positive thread be on top for a change. Thank you to everyone who kept console wars out of the discussion. Thank you for being civil and proving that the community isn't full of salt.

You see that rock? You might go there.

I remember when they said they dropped last gen because it was holding back vault space for current gen, but we still haven't seen that increase in space that was promised. Let's hope that Bungie makes good on a lot of the promises they give for D2.

Breath of the WIld is an amazing game. Worth the every penny.

I want more "dungeons".

You see that mountain? You can climb that mountain

Destiny 2 as an open world? Def not going to ever happen. Why? Because of $,$,$, and more $. As a person who has Platinumed The Witcher 3 twice, I'd love for Destiny 2 to be an all open-world/inter-planetery type of game. Traveling to different planets with differential evolution, eco system, and territorrial abstructions. The list goes on and on!

Edited by Ve7n00m: 3/27/2017 10:19:37 AMI always wanted Destiny (the one we're playing now) to focus souly on earth, and have it as a massive open world then have the ending seeing us go out of our Solar system to another planet. I guess Bungie or Activision wanted 3 or 4 games worth of watered down content squashed into 1 arcade game. I fear nothing much will change with Destiny 2, because honestly Bungie does not have a grip on Destiny's identy as a franchise. I just hope some other Developer looks at Destiny in the future and sees the potential for what a game like it could be, a massive open world FPS MMO type loot and shoot rather than a compartmentalized arcade game.

Ok Harold

The only thing that I'm concerned about is the contract that is basically forcing Bungie to release Destiny 2 this year or forfeit stocks to Activision.

You might be a redneck if.........
you voted for trump
I hope Destiny 2 turns more people against Bungie and exposed Bungie for the trash video game developers they are.

We were originally told that Destiny was a 10 year game. Given the limited content of Destiny 1 I firmly believe that Bungie have had writers working long and hard to make up for lost time. They owe it to themselves. Last time I looked- about 5 days ago- 300,000 players logged into Destiny. That's not enough to sustain a top tier title over its predicted franchise period. Right now there are people in suits having board meetings and asking Luke Smith why the sound of money hitting the screen has diminished. The hype train will begin soon enough and I for one will probably buy into it- I love the game despite its faults- but I'm patient and can't even begin to speculate on what D2 will be like.

Wasn't there a leak saying D2s version of patrol would feature NPC's, towns/settlements, and general friendly areas instead of constantly going to a social space? Seems like a traditional style that I would love to see in a game like Destiny. I'm assuming if this leak was real, there's probably going to be a massive timeskip, and it would be an easy way to advance humanity without effecting the guardians considering their immortality.

I've ALWAYS said this, the landscape is pretty amazing, but feel wasted

I hope it's a lot more open world

Edited by kellen100: 3/27/2017 5:49:14 AMIf destiny goes full blown mmo on us I hope pvp equipment is completely separate from pve. PvE bores the life out of me. I loved raiding for the social aspect. Meeting friends in lfg, mastering a raid and helping people through it. Teaching them every aspect and showing them a new standard of understanding and willingness to help, deeply contrasting the elitism we've all had to witness at some point. I know, I'm so humble, but I really do love that feeling. What I hate is gearing up to the raid standard. It's boring. I hate the mmo grind. I hate infusion and leveling. I'm all up for some perfect roll rng, but, even though I didn't experience it, I feel I'd much rather have the ability to take my armor and upgrade it through materials. Actual mmos have a ridiculous grind. Start with gen 1 equipment, spend dozens of hours upgrading it, next patch you do it all over again. Forget all that. I'll do it if I have to, for pvp and raids sake, but I won't enjoy it.
