And thats where the problem is. When you can run with a sidearm through an entire match without using a primary it becomes broken. I'm not saying sidearms are op btw.

You're right. Special weapons are supposed to be used situationally. In a way, that's the problem. In order to use special weapons situationally the idea is to save your ammo for when you need it. The current "use it or lose it" ammo economy contradicts the intended design for special weapons. Most people either use their special exclusively once they have ammo, or they use a weapon that circumvents the loss of ammo on death. Yes some people will use them properly, but those are likely the people who used them situationally in the first place before the ammo change. This ammo change forced more varied primary fights at first, which I enjoyed, but it has quickly devolved into sidearms and hand cannons. I want people to use primaries because they are the correct choice, not because they are the only choice. Unfortunately Destiny is too far into its lifespan for Bungie to make the kind of changes that will fix the problem, so we're basically just stuck waiting for D2.

OK. But why even make special weapons. That's cool. Just remove 2nd weapons. You're a smart one
