With the removal of special ammo on death Bungie has guaranteed the next series of inevitable complaints and nerfs. They created the problem and are making it worse. Nerf siderms -> People will still use them even with less ammo. Sidearms will get nerfed again -> making them lose ammo or rendering them useless, people will move on to Icebreakers. Icebreakers will get nerfed -> because they can regen ammo and kill people quickly. After Icebreakers, Invectives will get nerfed -> even though it takes a while to regen ammo, it is still regening ammo which is more preferable than 0 ammo. Invectives will get nerf -> because people will never stop asking for nerfs, and they still can't stand shotguns. This future is what I see coming. If you really hate sidearms just think, how popular were they when special ammo was still around? Almost non-existent? If they wanted to nerf special ammo, they could have simply made the boxes drop less ammo (like they did with another nerf long ago), people will still have all specials available just with less ammo than before. Removing the ammo upon death was just too far. Sometimes you don't need to leap to make progress, a few steps can help keep the chaos of balance under control.
